The next day we get up very early as the auction starts at 10 am.
On the way, Layla tries to convince me that the house is not the right place for me.
"I bet there are better places to live around Aberystwyth that you can buy. Even a small flat is better than a freaky horror house. You really can't be serious about this, Riley. Then better stay living in the flat that we are sharing at the moment and Andy and I will try and find a different place for ourselves, right?" Layla looks over at Andy and waits for him to agree.
"Yeah, you're absolutely right, babe," is Andy's only reply.
Typical boys, I think to myself. He was probably not listening in the first place and just noticed that Layla had asked a question. Then he just randomly replies with the typical line that every boy says when he is not listening, which is to agree with his girlfriend or woman in general.
Layla herself seems quite annoyed by his short answer, because she gives him a right mean look before turning her attention back to me. "See, it is really no problem, I promise!"
"Thanks guys, but my mind is made up," I reply smiling.
Now Layla does not know what to do exactly and looks back out the front window instead of at me sitting in the back, as she did just a few minutes ago.
Yes, my mind is definitely made up. If there are not too many bidders for the house there today and the price does not break my budget, then the chances of the house being mine in the future are very high.
