Layla, Andy and I spend the next few weeks renovating my house.
The first thing that needs to be done is the roof and basically some of the outside of the house. Luckily Andy knows some people who are willing to help and the outside of the house is done in just a few weeks. The furniture from the previous owner has been moved to the basement. There were quite a few boxes there too. We were a little bit curious and even decided to open some of them, but found nothing but old books, newspapers and decorations. As we felt a bit uncomfortable going through belongings of people we did not know, we quickly decided to stop going through them and just piled them all up in the basement.
The rest of the time we spent painting the walls in beautiful bright colours, like yellow and orange. The kitchen got a nice bright yellow colour, while the living room got a really light colour mixed with red, orange and yellow. I really liked the way it turned out, because you could see each colour shining through a little bit.
We also basically replace everything, like the stairs and some of the floorboards.
Once that is finally all done, we start moving my stuff in, which is not a lot, as I do not have much in the student resident.
So basically the house is quite empty at the end. But although it is so empty, the brightly coloured walls give it a really homely feel.
