I spent another two years, until the end of 1970, looking for her, hoping that one day she would walk through the front door of our house and everything would be back to normal. But it never went back to normal. Jane remained missing and I became terribly miserable living in that house, surrounded by the beautiful views of Aberystwyth. Everything was a constant reminder of her. Everywhere I looked, something seemed to remind me of her.

I remember the one day that I was grocery shopping for myself and came across the flower aisle. Immediately, my heart sank into my boots and I a tear escaped my eye. I quickly wiped it away, embarrassed to be seen crying in a flower aisle of a shop.

I began to feel weak and even more miserable, so I decided it was best to leave all the constant reminders behind me and go back to Germany where I tried to start a new life, never forgetting Jane though. So, at the age of 41, I went back to my home country of Germany to try and start over again.
