TWO YEARS LATER

Two years have passed since we uncovered the truth about Markus' wife having gone missing and Markus joining her in heaven.

As Markus had no family left anywhere, we only thought it only right to give him and his wife some sort of burial. As we had no bodies to bury, we simply made some headstones and placed them at the back of the garden, next to each other, and planted some beautiful flowers around them, especially as we remembered Markus telling us that Jane loved flowers and even worked in a flower shop. And Markus had taken up gardening when he went back to Germany to be near Jane and enjoyed it just as much. So it seemed only fitting.

We all look after the graves we have made, honour and remember Jane and Markus every day.

A lot has happened in two years though. I have graduated from university and now earn my living by running an art gallery where I have many of my own paintings on display. I love the art gallery and there is one painting, in particular, that I adore. It is a painting I did about a week after we had to say goodbye to Markus. It shows Markus smiling the way he did just a few moments before he faded away, and next to him, also smiling, is his wife Jane. But her as a ghost, just a little less scary than she sometimes was. And in the background, there is a portal to heaven. The title of the painting is Reunited. I like the painting because it shows how happy they must be now that they can be together again in heaven after being apart for so long.

As for Jay and Cedric, they are both still in the ghost-hunting business, always chasing after some dead spirits that are trapped in certain things, places or people. They get a lot of calls, actually. Before I encountered a ghost myself, I never really knew anything about ghost hunters, let alone how time-consuming their jobs can be, especially since they have to be ready for a call more or less at any time, no matter how late it is. But luckily for me, that also means that I have not encountered another ghost since Jane, and I have two great guys to turn to if I ever find myself in a similar situation, which I hope I never will again.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that Jay moved in with me, into Markus' and Jane's home. Yeah, we are an official couple now and Cedric has got over whatever problem he had with us being a couple and is actually really happy for us. He even calls me little sis most of the time, manly to tease me, but it also shows that he sees me as part of the family, which I officially am. Officially, you ask? Yes, not only did Jay move in with me, but we also got married five months ago. It was the sort of wedding I have always dreamed of and marks a wonderful new start in my life, our lives – mine and Jay's.

The End
