Ghosts Aren't Cute...
Right?

▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။||||။၊|• 3:00

For the first time since her first week of high school, actual students were looking at Riya willingly, and she was nervous out of her mind.

In hindsight, if she wished to keep going unnoticed she probably shouldn't have played with a band in front of half the school, or stared hanging out with one of the loudest people in the entire school also known as Flynn, or worn bright yellow plaid pants.

Whatever the case may be, Riya pushed on.

Tucking her black band t-shirt further inside her pants, Riya took a step forward, and then another, and another until she was fully walking past all the watchful eyes in the hall. Riya's nails dug into the cover of her binder, blowing away the stray strands of side bangs falling loose from her even looser braid sitting across her shoulder.

If she could play in front of half the school, spend an entire weekend dealing with ghosts, and somehow still keep her head atop her shoulders, Riya could get to class.

"Riya!" Saved by Flynn's dulcet tones Riya looked up from her booted feet, face breaking out into a grin as she approached the talking pair of Julie and Flynn against Julie's locker.

"Hey."

"Hey." Both Flynn and Julie dragged out the word before sharing a look and bursting into a fit of laughter which Riya joined in soon after, even with all the weird looks they kept receiving from onlooking students.

"Julie here tells me you spent the entire weekend writing songs with the boys." Flynn draped her arm over Julie's shoulders sharing a discreet look Riya couldn't identify as her face broke out into a grin.

The past weekend had to be Riya's busiest weekend ever. Between spending time going back and forth between Julie's garage and her apartment, not to mention the dozens of hours spent pondering and arguing over potential lyrics and beats for each song, Riya was exhausted. But a good kind of exhausted which she couldn't get enough of.

"Yeah! Luke, Julie, and I spent the entire weekend writing songs, it was insane, but weirdly fun," Once again, Julie and Flynn shared some sort of joke. Riya credited it to the fact that she was fairly new to the friend group and was still missing more than a few inside jokes. "We should show you some! Right, Julie?"

Julie shrugged. "Sure."

"Ms Harrison is having breakfast at the cafeteria right now the music room's open," In all her excitement, as Riya had begun to rush away she failed to notice Julie and Flynn hadn't moved an inch from their previous places.

In hindsight, it did seem a little like stalker behaviour for Riya to know Ms Harrison's schedule to a tea. But she couldn't help it, Ms Harrison was a creature of habit and Riya was a creature of hiding, which correlated to her accidentally learning when Ms Harrison left the room every day (which was once in the morning and another time during lunch, and once a month, she'd leave early in general).

"I swear I'm not a stalker." Riya blurred out before Flynn and Julie got any creepy ideas which would disband their recently formed friend group. However, their reactions were widely different to what her brain had conjured as Julie chuckled to herself while Flynn draped her other arm over Riya's shoulders leading them all to the music room with amused smiles.

"You know, there's this cute guy in my gym class, think you can learn his schedule, so I can't accidentally bump into him and have a rom-com moment?" Riya simply rolled her eyes at Flynn's antics, Julie's chuckles rising even higher in pitch before they all joined in.
