Ghosts Can't Be Hurt
With Salt

Riya couldn't deny the audible lack of Alex's presence behind the drums as they rehearsed the song they'd play at the dance, but she'd be lying if she said she still wasn't having a lot of fun playing with her bandmates and the guitar she had reluctantly agreed to store in Julie's garage.

However, there was a wrench in the cogs of Riya's peace in the form of Julie's voice from earlier that day speaking about how in sync her and Luke were, which was becoming more true the more they practised.

Riya only had to send a glance Luke's way before they played one of the many riffs they had planned to match up with the song. She didn't even need to signal which riff, Luke just seemed to know, and they landed on the same conclusion.

She didn't mind giving Julie the right on her statement, she was merely curious about why her and Luke had developed such a connection in such a short time? Possibly, the same reason why Riya could touch them and Julie could not. Or something else entirely.

Either way, Riya tried not to think about it too much, she would rather not have her head explode halfway through the practice session.

"One more time." Luke requested, to which they all obliged. Repeating the same series of chords before sliding smoothly into the ending of the song.

As soon as the air stilled, Riya shared a high-five with Reggie. Not that she could deny it in any way, but they truly had an excellent song on their hands and knew exactly how to bring the vision to life. Riya couldn't be happier.

"Oh. Hey, Alex." With lighting speed, they all turned to see Alex finishing to phase through the door.

He looked happier and more relaxed than Riya had ever seen him, even if his hands were still hidden inside the pockets of his jean jacket. Riya suspected his impromptu date had something to do with his mood.

"Hey Alex." Riya dragged his name tauntingly, applying the same tactic Julie and Flynn had used on her earlier, with the smirk and everything.

It worked just as well as it had with her, Alex's eyes dropping to his sneakers with a slight coat of pink over his cheeks with the same wide grin. His mood certainly had to do with the date now.

"Where have you been?" Alex's eyes snapped upwards to meet Luke's rushed state to which Riya rolled her eyes to. She loved music and the band more than anything, but occasionally the band wasn't everything. "We need to start practising."

"Yeah? For what?"

"Dance news!" Riya nearly jumped out of her skin, being so startled she tripped over her own feet and collided against the edge of Julie's keyboard.

For someone who frequently associated herself with ghosts, the most known thing... person... to cause scares, Riya was too easily frightened and very jumpy. She was probably easier to frighten than a scaredy-cat, even if the only threat around was Flynn and her dramatic entrance to the garage while pouting.

"I don't have a date."

"We were supposed to find a date?" That opened a whole new can of problems for Riya, she was nervous enough having to play in front of such a massive crowd, and now she'd need to ask someone out and pay attention to them whenever she wasn't freaking out about going onstage?

Riya didn't even know whom to ask and where to start. Sure there were cute guys all around school, like the one in her gym class from last year with the fluffy hair and severe soccer obsession. Or maybe the one in her math class with the pretty smile, it wasn't anything impressive, but it made other girls smile so Riya supposed he'd do.
