the next morning they didn't see each other. in fact they didn't see each other until around seven pm when scarlett ordered them dinner.
"minerva?" she softly knocked on the door. she stood from her bed and walked to open the door.
"hey." scarlett smiled, handing her the bag with her food.
"thanks scar." minerva said softly. scarlett smiled with a slight nod of her head before turning to walk away. she stopped for a second but continued down the hallway.
-----
the next few days they didn't speak much, minerva was working and when she got home she just wanted to be alone. scarlett could sense the shift in emotion and knew it was about something that happened in the car that night, she just wasn't sure which part it was. when minerva arrived from work today scarlett had just finished dinner."hey, you hungry?" scarlett's voice was as cheerful as ever.
"yeah.. i'm gonna shower first, though." scarlett nodded.
"okay... i also want to talk to you about something." minerva nodded before walking off to her room. it was only about fifteen minutes she was gone, but when she came back her hair was damp and she was in sweatpants and a t-shirt.
"how was your day?" minerva asked while sitting at the table. scarlett walked over with two plates of food before speaking.
"it was good." she smiled.
"what do you want to drink?" scarlett asked before sitting down.
"a soda please." minerva dug into her food while scarlett grabbed their drinks. she wasn't sure what this talk was going to be about but she was sure it was going to mess up her head even more. that would be weird rung in her head multiple times a day. she tried to not think about scarlett as much but it was hard, she was in love with her.
"so... i know i said something wrong in the car... i'm not sure what but you haven't been the same towards me after that night." minerva kept her eyes locked on her plate.
"it's not you... i just, i dunno." scarlett gazed at minerva softly.
"is it what amelia said?" she asked, but minerva didn't answer. scarlett stood from her chair and walked around the table, sitting in the seat besides her.
"yeah." minerva mumbled. scarlett reached for her hand and smiled while minerva gave her hand a soft squeeze.
"i'm sorry she said that." she cooed. minerva shook her head.
"i don't care that she said it, i just want to know if it's true." minerva looked over to scarlett when she didn't answer.
"i told her one night when i was drunk that i thought you are insanely pretty... she condensed it down to that and brings it up any chance she gets." her face blushed as she finished her sentence.
"i'm sorry i lied about it... i just didn't want you to think i was weird, and i didn't want it to mess up our friendship." minerva let go of her hand and pulled her into a hug.
"i don't think you're weird." she assured, rubbing her back softly. scarlett pressed her nose into the soft fabric of minerva's shirt. her cologne is always so comforting.
"i'm sorry for avoiding you, it was shitty of me when i could've just talked to you." scarlett hummed.
"it's okay... i can't say i would've done differently." minerva held scarlett until she pulled away, but she didn't move her face away. their faces were inches apart. it took everything in her to not push their lips together. clearly what amelia said was taken out of context and scarlett did not like her like that. but she was surprised when scarlett did it for her, pressing their lips together while her hands found her face.
"hmm." she hummed against minerva's lips. minerva's hands travelled scarlett's body, her hands gently rubbing against her hips. it was a few seconds before scarlett pulled away.
"was that stupid?" she asked, slightly panicked as she thought she just ruined things further.
"no." minerva answered, her hands placed firmly on the others hips. scarlett smiled and laid her head back against her shoulder. they stayed like this for awhile before hunger overtook them. scarlett stayed sitting besides minerva and just pulled her plate to herself.
after dinner they went to their separate rooms for the night. minerva was up thinking most of the night. thinking about the kiss, and what it meant for them... or maybe it didn't mean anything and was just something that happened in the heat of the moment. it took awhile for her to finally drift off.
scarlett on the other hand was freaking out. even though minerva didn't seem bothered in the slightest she was still afraid what she did wasn't the right move. but it did feel good to finally kiss her. it was something she thought about often. when they cuddled on the couch or when minerva was just admiring her doing simple tasks.
what she said wasn't the whole truth. yes what she said able amelia was true. but what wasn't true is the fact that she said she was just insanely pretty. she is heavenly to look at. her doing mundane tasks could hold scarlett's attention for hours. she is so endearing. she would be foolish to say she didn't have a crush on minerva, but that was something she thought she could never tell her.
