"focus!" - that's what taehyung needs to do right now, his head feels cloudy and he's got this stupid rapid beating happening in his chest, feeling like his heart is going to split open the skin and leap right out, and what he needs to do is just steady his breathing and focus.
everything is going out of control, he'll admit it, at least simply to himself, that when he had told jungkook to marry him so that he wouldn't get deported, he wasn't exactly thinking completely straight, he was thinking of himself, sure, but not about jungkook.
but now taehyung can't stop thinking about him.
It's like a broken record in his head, playing over and over again about how he's dangling jungkook's life on a thin thread, now collectively affecting the lives of his family as well, his mother jiyeon, gammy, mr.jeon-
"this is a business deal. this is just a business deal"
that's all it is. that's how it started and that's certainly how it's going to end, just as long as he doesn't strain himself so hard from trying to rid his guilty thoughts.
it's much better than being stuck inside the huge mansion- the air out here is fresh and open and endless, and he doesn't feel like he's going to suffocate or sink into himself. he used to cycle before in seoul, plenty of times, watching trees pass him by as he goes, so this is just what he needs right now- being by the trees gives him some headspace. he needs to calm down and focus on important matters; not getting deported.
not jungkook, his family, or the big wedding they now already have planned. simply, the fact that he can keep his job as the chief editor of colden books, until the day he decides to drop out on his own.
he hasn't been thinking about his work for a while, he now realises. life here seems so simple that thinking about such things feels so trivial.
- but that's who he is, a man who has to worry and be strict about his career.
that's who he is. that's who he is.
"everything is going to be fine," he tells himself, not paying attention to where he's going just as long as he's getting there. "think about it, it's just two words. that's it. that's all you have to say to save your job"
when the pair ride into town on the family ski boat, jungkook finds that taehyung is unusually quiet. he doesn't make a fuss about being back on the water-he doesn't even wear the life vest-and he doesn't say a word about walking into the convenience store with jungkook's family surname splayed on it.
the worker behind the counter already knows why the pair was there, "hey green you got that phone I ordered?" jungkook queried.
"yes, yes it came in" green replied as he looked towards taehyung throwing a wink "how are you?"
"great, you?"
"good" with that green asked them to wait a moment while he goes to the back to get the phone jungkook ordered for taehyung.
