Tomato Juice

I yawned. I have been sitting at this spot in the library since classes ended, and by now my back is sore. I'm also getting a little sleepy from all that revising.

Believe it or not, I've been revising for a test we'll have in Mathematics for almost 3 hours now. Haven't even lifted my head from the books the whole time.

I finally decided to close my book for a bit. I took a deep breath and looked out the window beside me. I looked out of it earlier, and there was a small vegetable patch out there.

I was surprised to see someone I wouldn't have expected, planting some seedlings. "Oogami-kun?" I muttered. I quickly made a paper plane and opened the window.

I threw the plane, and it landed right ontop of his head. He looked up straight away and when our eyes met, I waved with a grin. He scoffed and went back to gardening.

What he's doing seems fun. I looked at the books scattered on the table. Maybe that's enough studying for today. All work and no play makes (Y/N) a dull girl anyway.

"Oogami~" I happily walked towards him, waving. I had changed into my gym clothes, planning to join him. "Huh? (Y/N)? Whatcha doing here? I thought you're at the library?" he eyed me. His tone of voice is a lot calmer and softer than usual, it surprised me.

"Ehehe, I've been there for hours already, so I thought I'd want to go out for some air. And when I saw you, I got curious" I grinned. "What do you mean? If you're here to be annoying, you better be helpful, at least" he stood up, revealing his soiled shirt.

"Wait, you're letting me help? Really?" I blinked in disbelief. "What? Don't wanna? I'm in a good mood right now, so I'll let it slide today" he rolled his eyes.
"Wahhh! Thank you, Oogami-kun! I'll make sure I'll be of help!" I clapped my hands with joy.

I bent down to help him sow some of the seedlings. "So... Why are you doing this? Is it some kind of club activity?" I asked. "Huh? Nah.. It's my personal veggie patch. Managed to get permission to plant here. Y'know, living alone gets tough, planting some veggies myself can help reduce the cost and everything, y'know?" he answered calmly.

I nodded, then let out a soft chuckle. "You seem very calm. Did something good happen?"

Koga looked at me, confused. "What, ya take me as a mad maniac? Hmph" he scoffed. "Ahaha, not that... I guess you're right. I shouldn't assume things about you. Guess gardening makes you calm" I smiled.

"Guess so" Koga muttered under his breath.

Suddenly, we heard our names being called from the building beside us. We looked up and saw a figure looking at us from a window at the second floor.

"Good evening, you kids seem to be having a good time" Rei, the one at the window, smiled. "Ah! Sakuma-senpai! Hello~" I waved, smiling back at him.

"I rarely see you gardening here" he continued. "Well, it's my first time doing this, but as for Oogami..."

"Guess you never saw me 'cus you're always busy sleeping in your coffin all the time" Koga replied, not lifting his head. "Hm? Does that make you sad, Doggie? Very well, then~" Rei chuckled before disappearing from the window.

"What the heck? Why would that make me sad anyway? That vampire bastard..." Koga sighed. Usually he would be screaming it out but I guess the garden definitely helped ease his mood a bit, at least.

A few peaceful minutes passed when we heard footsteps coming towards us. As I had expected, it was the one and only Rei. He simply had his blazer off and sleeves rolled up a bit.

"You came, Sakuma-senpai!" I exclaimed. "Fufu, of course I did. Especially when seeing my precious Koga so sad~" he chuckled. "Wha- since when am I sad?! You're just sayin' nonsense!" Koga snapped. His ears are a bit red, though.

"Awh, sorry for not able to spend more time with you, Doggie~" Rei teasingly patted Koga's head. "Don't pat my head, bastard! I-I don't need your attention!" Koga roughly slapped Rei's hand away, glaring at him.

"Says the one who used to be so desperate to chase me~ fufu, never mind, then" Rei smirked, before standing up. Koga was about to open his mouth to fight back, but then he slowly changed his mind. He scoffed and focused back on the seedlings.

Me and Koga finished sowing the last seedlings. We wiped our sweat and I held my hand up. "We finished! High-five!" I cheered. "Hahah, thanks, you're actually quite useful!" Koga smiled and we high-fived each other.

"About time you're done. I was about to ask something" Rei interrupted, approaching us. "You have such lovely tomatoes. May I take some?" he continued.

I glanced at the tomatoes. A lot of them are nice, round and red, perfect for harvest. "Wow, right, those look amazing, Oogami!" I took a closer look at them. I can already sense how juicy they are just by looking at them.

"Hmph! Just look at who cared for 'em? Of course they'll grow healthy!" Koga announced proudly. "So... May I take some, Doggie?" Rei repeated his question.

"Why would I give it to you? I worked hard to grow these, ain't gonna give them away for free, y'know?" Koga challenged.

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna take a lot. And as payment, I'll perform anything you'd like, just for you later" Rei winked. Koga seemed shocked, and I can see a hint of sparkle in his eyes even though he's trying hard to hide it. "R-really? Ugh... Then, promise that! I won't let you take that back, y'know?" Koga stammered.

I chuckled. He seemed to be very excited. I wonder what's so special about it since they're literally in the same unit anyway. But well, I guess there's more to it  that I don't know.

We soon found ourselves at the Garden Terrace. Rei invited us to come with him after picking some tomatoes. And speak of the devil, here he is from the kitchen, with a tray in his hands.

"I wanted to make some tomato juice with the tomatoes. Good thing the chefs allowed it, so here they are" Rei smiled, placing the tray down on our table. He served three glasses of tomato juice, one for each of us.

"A-ah...thanks, Sakuma-senpai" Koga seemed surprised. He took a glass and took a sip. "W-well,it's not that bad. At least it's better than the ones from the vending machine that you keep on buying" he commented.

"Is it? Hehe, I'm happy to here that from my cute Doggie~" Rei teased. "Ugh, shut up, seriously" Koga muttered, facing the other way.

Rei happily sipped on his glass of tomato juice. Meanwhile, I'm just there, staring at my glass. I'm not really sure what to expect, since I've never tasted tomato juice before.

"What's wrong, young lady?" Rei noticed my look.
"A-ah,nothing! Ehehe..." I chuckled awkwardly.

Well, better try it first. I slowly picked up my glass and took a sip. I definitely didn't expect it to taste rather sweet, but it reminds me too much of ketchup it makes it weird. Definitely not for me.

I hid my weird expression and placed my glass aside, still smiling as to not hurt Rei's feelings.

After a while, we all had finished our drinks, although I forcefully did so. "Alright, remember your promise?" Koga wasted no time to get to the point. Man, he's very excited for it.

"Sorry, Doggie, but it's getting late, as you can see" Rei pointed out. It's true though, the sky is turning orange already. I looked at Koga. I can almost imagine a pair of doggie ears drooping on his head just by his expression.

"Fufu, don't worry, just meet me at the Band Club room tomorrow. I'll keep my promise" Rei patted Koga's head again. Koga's face immediately changed. "Argh! Don't pat my head!" he jumped in shock.

Rei chuckled in response. "Let's head home. Wanna walk together, young lady?" he turned towards me. "Hehe, sure why not?" I smiled.

The three of us walked home together, calmly with the setting sun, almost like an anime ending. Well, minus the constant teasing and bickering between the two.
