"Kagehira! Help me move these boxes!"
"Ngahh..... Why are there so many pieces of fabric flying around?"
"Ugh... These shelves are so dusty..."Unlike other days, today, the Art Club room is busy and noisy. They decided to do a spring cleaning since the room had gotten very messy to prepare for a long project of making Halloween costumes, and I'm here to lend a hand. Speaking of which, Halloween is only 3 weeks ahead. Sweet.
I sneezed for the thousandth time while dusting the shelves. After removing all the boxes of sewing equipment, clothes and whatnot, the thick layer of dust that has been hiding revealed itself. And who else would be its' victim if it's not me?
As I was dusting, I noticed a small box that I must've missed earlier. I placed down my duster and grabbed the box.
"Um, Itsuki-senpai,where should I put this- wh-whoa!"
As I was making my way towards Shu and Mika, I tripped over a basket of sewing thread. I fell face first on the floor, and now my face is covered in dust.
"Ah! (Y/N)-san? Let me help..." Mika rushed over to help me. When I finally lifted my head, I noticed the box I was holding had ripped open, and all its' content spilled out.
And oddly, Shu was staring straight at the items.
Mika helped me get up and dust my clothes. "Thanks, Kagehira. Itsuki-senpai,are you alright? Uh, sorry for making a bigger mess, I'll clean it up!"
I bent down and picked up the items, which are a variety of hand puppets.
"Wait... Isn't that..... Nazuna-nii's hand puppets?" Mika spoke. "Yeah..... It is. You can throw it out once you're done" Shu spoke coldly. Mika picked up one of the puppets with a sad look on his face.
"He would make lots of these when he's still part of this club.... I can't believe you still kept these, Teach" he continued.
Shu scoffed. "Non, it wasn't me! It must've just been there.... Just throw it out or take it, girl. I don't need a traitor's belonging here"
I was shocked by his last sentence. "A.... What?" I looked at Shu. He shook his head. "Nothing. Anyways, come help me sort these out, Kagehira!" he turned back towards the fabric he was sorting out earlier.
But oh no, they can't just say such things and not explain it to me. I watched them continue their work like nothing happened. I sighed. I finished tidying up the puppets into a new box and walked outside to put it somewhere else. Maybe Midori would like these?
I opened the door, only to be met with a familiar face. He was shocked when he saw me, and immediately moved away from the door frame.
"Traitor..... Traitor...."
"Nii-chan?" I gasped. Nazuna stopped muttering to himself and bit his lip, his head down. "Are you... Crying?"
He shook his head. "Close the door. Don't... let them see me" he spoke in a wobbly voice. Yeah, he was definitely crying. I was concerned, so I did as told.
"Are you okay, Nii-chan? Or....." I slowly turned back towards the door. What Shu said to him was harsh, and I'm afraid he had heard it.
"That's mine, I believe?" he didn't answer my question, and instead pointed at the box I was holding. "I'm not sure.... But I guess it must be" I handed the box to him.
He opened the box and picked up a puppet, smiling sadly. "I used to make loads of these. Can't believe they still kept them" he whispered.
"If you don't mind me asking, were you once part of this club?" I asked. Nazuna nodded. "In fact, I was more than that. I was a part of Valkyrie"
