Alex held open the door for me, and we walked out onto the slightly crowded street.

"So, a band? That's pretty cool!" He winked at me, and I couldn't stop a smile creeping onto my lips.

"Yeah, like being in All Time Low isn't fucking amazing!"

He laughed, "Well, I suppose! Oh wait, I don't even know your name!"

"I'm Kaitlyn, Kaitlyn Froggatt."

"Well, it's nice to meet you. Oh, watch out!" He grabbed my waist and pulled me out of the path of a biker coming straight towards me. He shouted towards the man, "HEY, WATCH WHERE THE HELL YOU'RE GOING!"

"Thanks, Alex." I stopped walking as I realised we had reached where I needed to be. "Um, this is me..."

He stared at the black industrial steel door crammed between a cafe and a retail store. He frowned, "What's this?"

"This is the studio where me and my band practice."

"Oh, right... It looks a little... Run down..." He saw me look down towards the ground in a state of embarrassment and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it in a bad way, Kaitlyn!" He rubbed his hand across my shoulder and I looked up at him.

"Well, I guess it's not the greatest. But it is the best we can afford. We only get around $200 dollars a week for practice between us- what with the only income being a shitty gig every couple of weeks, and my weekend job at Barnes & Noble..." He looked almost apologetic as I carried on, "We're all saving to buy a garage or something like that, or to rent somewhere a little better- but for now we're fine, I guess."

"I... Uh... Oh." He quickly changed the subject, "Do you mind if I come hear you guys practice? I mean, it's fine if you don't want-"

"That'd be awesome!"

He smiled with his entire face as I opened the door for him. He gestured for me to go first and shut the door behind him with a horrific CLANG.

We chatted about random crap as I led him down the steep steps to the below-ground studio.

Our guitarist Sam must've heard us, and he started to yell up the stairs, "Fucking hell, Froggatt! How many times have we told you not to bring your slutty boyfriends to prac-" He stopped mid sentence as he saw me leaning in the doorway, smirking and gesturing towards Alex who stood behind me. He looked nervous as hell, which was a bit of a shock.

"Oh- uh- sorry!" Sam  stammered, as he realised who he'd just called slutty. Alex gently pushed his way past me, and shook hands with my band mate. He looked back and forth between me and Alex, and simply shook his head in disbelief.

He gestured towards the rest of the band, who were focused on getting set up.

"Guys, I think you should look at this..."
