Astraea's POV

Today was a big day. The don of the most dangerous Spanish mafia was coming to pick whether he wants to marry me or Camilla. Apparently this was to form an alliance with the Devil's Mafia. I don't know why I had to get all dressed up when everyone knew that Camilla would be chosen. She looks like something out of a fairytale. And here I was with a common appearance. Dad told me that I looked like just as much of a princess princess as Camilla did. Of course there was a clear favouritism which proved otherwise. I never liked attention so I usually kept to myself. I enjoyed wearing loose and baggy clothes to kinda hide my curves while Camilla loved to show hers off.

Today I was dressed in a long, flowy red dress with long sleeves. Underneath my dress I wore black heels which were killing my feet, but Dad bought them for me so I have to wear it at least once. I brushed my hair and let it flow down my back. I put on a gold necklace with a rose pendant and a few simple rings on my right hand.

Diego: Astraea, he'll be here in a few minutes. Are you ready?
Astraea: Si papà. (Yes Dad.)

I opened my door to find Dad waiting for me. He was dressed in a fancy black suit and he had some gold rings on too. Honestly speaking, my dad was hot. The two of us walked to the dining hall. Mom and Camilla were already seated waiting for us.

Valeska: Took you long enough.
Diego: Don't be bratty just because you aren't an option.

Mom rolled her eyes and Dad scoffed. This was a usual thing. Just then, the doors opened and we all stood up. Two men walked in. I recognised one as Angelo DeLuca. He was around my father's age. My eyes then shifted to his son, Carlos Angelo DeLuca, also known as the Angel. It's pretty ironic for the don of the Devil's Mafia. Contrary to his code name, he's the devil himself. He's cold, heartless and he shows mercy to no one.

Diego: ¡Hola! Cómo estás? (Hello! How are you?)
Angelo: ¡Hola! Estoy bien gracias. (Hello! I'm good thanks.)

They both shook hands.

Angelo: Your daughters have turned into fine, beautiful women. See Hijo (Son), I told you that this would be worth while.
Carlos: Whatever Dad.

Carlos had a threatening and cold voice, unlike his father. As they sat down across from us, my eyes met his cold green ones. Even as we were seated, he didn't take his eyes off me. Dad and Angelo spoke in Spanish before turning to Carlos. I couldn't tell what they were saying.

Diego: So, Carlos, have you decided?
Valeska: I don't blame you for wanting Camilla. She's the perfect age and she's great at everything.
Carlos: I choose Astraea.

Mom and Camilla gave me surprised and angry looks. Dad mouthed "I knew it" to me, making me smile.

Valeska: Are you sure?
Carlos: If there's any problems then the deal is off. Astraea will be my wife and that's final.

He's the first stranger to say my name. It feels weird. I'm not used to it. Usually Camilla's name is the only one people know.

Carlos glanced at me before standing up and leaving. Rude.

Angelo: Gracias senôr en senoritas. (Thank you Sir and ladies.)

He stood up and left too. Dad then hugged me tightly.

Diego: Congrats on the engagement Principessa! (Princess)
Camilla: That should of been me! Did you guys bribe him?!
Astraea; I didn't even want this.
Camilla: Liar!
Diego: Camilla, stop this. It was his choice.
Valeska: I don't understand why he'd pick her over Camilla, who's perfect.
Astraea: Maybe he likes girls with flaws?
Camilla: You're just jealous that you're nothing like me.
Astraea: I'd rather marry Carlos than be like you.
Camilla: Bitch!
Diego: Watch your mouth young lady!

Camilla stormed off, almost falling in her heels in the process. I held back my laughter but it slipped through.

Valeska: He only wants you so that he can fuck other girls. There's no other reason because you're not exactly pretty or smart.

Mom walked away and Dad followed after shooting me an apologetic look. That's my life and that's why I hate my mom.
