Jefferson let out a frustrated sigh as he walked forward to the familiar gates again. His eyes unusually dark with bags and his expression showing exhausted annoyance - once again, he had forgotten his pills too. James looked at the boy as he approached, unusually late. James was about to rush the taller boy in order to get to class on time when he noticed how awful he presented himself to be, his fabulous hair unusually messy - which was impossible for Thomas, he'd never let his hair get so messy. "Woah Thomas" paused James in shock, "What?" groaned Thomas, grumpy as he already began to enter the school premises. "Did you sleep at all?" asked Madison, furrowing confused eyebrows at his friend, who yawned a they entered the building. "No." he didn't even spare the other a glance as they made their way to their usual hallway, reaching it in time for the warning bell to sound. The two students entered their classroom rather early as they had five minutes of transition time before having to be in place - it was almost empty with two of the usual early-birds sitting at their desks, one was a girl with her face in an interesting-looking purple book, Thomas could've sworn he'd seen it somewhere. At the desk was no other than... George Washington.

The man sat with a smart black undercoat over a cleanly white collar shirt, his glasses resting on the bridge of his nose as he looked over some papers on their usual teachers desk. The two boys paused before the doorway as they saw their head-teacher sitting at the teachers desk, students starting to tiredly pool in behind them. Tuesdays were the worst.

"What are you doing here?" blurted out Thomas in shock, his heavy eyes slightly wide in shock. Washington looked up at the teenager with a smile on his face, greeting him politely with a grin, he didn't at all look tired - which was odd. "Good morning Thomas" he said, holding a paper in his hand - "I'm covering for your morning period teacher the next week" he explained softly as Thomas's jaw hung open - oh god no. Thomas was known as one of the shittiest kids in the year, thanks to his recent mistakes and Alexander's stupid complaints throughout the last two years. Washington was surely going to keep an extra eye on him. Great.
A few groans came from a few students, clearly they did not want to be taught by someone with such power, but Washington just smiled at them, as if ironically enjoying their annoyance. "Take a seat" he glanced to the two boys who still stood at the front of the class as kids continued to pile in every few seconds and settle into their seating plan. James quickly snapped out of his daze and grabbed Thomas's sleeve to drag him to their assigned seats near the back. He looked to his taller friend, he clearly wasn't to be having a good day. "Did you take your meds at least..?" asked Madison in a whisper as he watched Thomas's emotionally dead face look to the front of the room in extreme annoyance, he then glanced at James who sat beside him with a delayed reaction. "No." he answered simply, causing James to let out a sigh. This was going to be a long day.

As the bell rung and bodies had gotten up to leave, Washington's voice called out to two certain boys. "You two, can you stay after class for a moment?" he asked, looking over at Jefferson and Madison. Thomas looked tiredly over, "Huh?" pausing as he was in the middle of standing, James also looked confused as he looked from Washington to Thomas. The two slowly sat back down as students made their way out of the doorway of the classroom and into the packed hallway which was filled with adolescent and pre-adult humans, walking like a large heard to get out of the hall. Washington looked to the two boys after watching the last girls in the class make their way out - at once he stood and made his way over to close the classroom door, muffling the loud muttering and stampede of teenagers just outside. Thomas and James shared a confused look before their teacher turned back around to face them, he looked rather calm as he slowly made his way towards them, sitting himself on top of the desk before them, taking a glance down at the boys. There was a brief silence before Washington once again spoke up, his voice quite level as the hallways came to a gradual quiet. "Thomas, how have you been settling in?" he asked, to which the boy shrugged - "Fine. I guess"
"You know, I don't want to see you doing something like that again" he said, "You don't want to get expelled, you don't want that on your record" he added, sighing as he looked to the two boys, his black reading glasses now missing from his face. Thomas internally groaned as he leaned back against the chair, sighing, "Yeah I know" he muttered, avoiding eye-contact with the man. "How has the situation with Alexander been?" he asked, "Have you apologised?"
