It Would Be Nice To Have Hamilton on Your Side

Another few days of stress had passed. Madison was soon well enough to return to school and Burr had found himself working with Alexander a few times to help with the History project. Alexander was still as overworked as he remembered him, still as determined. This meant a few more conversations, though Jefferson rarely came up - it was clearly a touchy subject for Hamilton.

It came around to Friday at last, and the past three to four-ish days which Burr spent with Alexander in his free time - and heard all about his relationship with Eliza and how sweet she was - came to a temporary end. Though Burr couldn't help but notice the growing distance between the two the more that other people called out Alex for something he didn't even do. Eliza, who didn't care about Alexander's reputation at first, now seemed uncomfortable the more people addressed the drama between Jefferson and Hamilton.

It was also June 2nd. The early beginning of another summer month. That was the Friday marking Thomas's full two weeks expelled - and he had two more to go. But it was also the Friday marking what Thomas had planned - he would be lying if he said that he wasn't nervous.

Over the past few days, being spoon fed information from both Burr and Madison over text, (such as the hot tea about Alexander's experimentation with his sexuality.) But there was one thing which worried him.

['he's going to get you excluded' Burr had texted Thomas, causing the boy to melt-down on the other side of the screen. He had only two months, or even less. Getting excluded now would harm his records more than they already are. There was no way Alexander was going to ruin his last memories of school]

Jefferson couldn't afford any more damage, in fact he swore that he would talk Alex out of it. He was in deep shit now. Knee deep to be exact. He already had to explain that what happened in the café wasn't him - it was Peggy. And now this? Good lord. Karma does not fuck around.

Thomas came to a heavy realisation.

[Thomas looked to the newspaper in his shaky hand. It was the one he had published, he'd found a copy sitting in his bag. His hands trembled in the rather quiet house  - it was the first time which Thomas was home alone for a long while. His mother had to rush Martha to her dentist appointment and the others were at work or school, leaving him all on his own... In silence.. Thomas was rarely left alone with his thoughts. So sitting in bed having done every chore asked of him with his two friends not replying was a little like torture to him - and ever since the newsletter Lafayette had dropped him too.

The boy let out a sigh as he read over the text on the newspaper, not being able to tear his mind away from the worst case scenarios that could come out of this - the words his mother said echoing in his head from time to time. "God maybe that was stupid" he sighed, giving himself a light face-palm followed up by an annoyed groan. He thought back to the day he'd encountered Alexander on the street, and gotten taken back by his tears - he couldn't help but feel as if something just didn't fit. What could it be? Jefferson felt a nerve shrivel in pain as he pictured Alexander's face full of anger, and just for a moment, he saw himself in it. He remembered the times he was dragged from school kicking and screaming by his mother, only to get an earful of scolding.  He remembered the night's he punched his pillows because he'd never be good enough for this family. He was better at emotion management now, he'd say. His pills mellowed him the fuck out. Maybe that was the problem. H e was the problem. The pills were supposed to help.. Why weren't they helping..? He was still the disgrace of the family, he was still the impulsive son his mother never wanted. And to think his privileged rich life would satisfy him.

Thomas looked at his bed, he felt a familiar sensation of ripping heart-strings, but he couldn't cry. Why couldn't he cry? Perhaps it's the medication? Or perhaps he really is a soulless bastard? Either way, there was one thing he knew - he never wanted anyone to feel like this. He never wanted anyone to feel the way he had to.
