Leila
"Damn! So what'd you do after that?" Nia asked curiously as we sipped on our mimosas. I called her and Imani up for brunch at one of our favorite restaurants in Manhattan to give them the update of the bullshit that went down last night. Yet, we're still waiting on my sister.
"What you think I did? I bounced my ass the fuck up outta there. I went home, binge watched "You" and cried myself to sleep. You know the usual."
"Did you block him?"
C'mon now. Do I look like a dumb bitch? "No." I say with puppy dog eyes and poking out my lip.
Nia sucks her teeth. "Leilaaaa!"
"Whaaat? You know it's easier said than done. You don't just get over someone so quickly when you love them."
"You did with Marcus." She says cutting into her French toast.
"There's a difference. I didn't love him." It's true. I didn't. That's why it was so easy to break up with him after he cheated.
"Wait. So you mean to tell me after almost a year of being together... you didn't love him?" She's saying it like it's a bad thing.
"I cared about him maybe but love? Fuck no. How can you love someone that ignores you daily, puts his all into everyone else, and swears up and down he's gonna do right by you yet lies and cheats. He just gave all around bum behavior and I'm too pretty for that shit."
"Periooood!!" Nia shouts clinking our drinks together. "I'm just curious though. How did you and Marcus get together in the first place?"
"Girl you know how guys be when you first meet them. They display this person that they're not in the beginning. Then when they finally get what they want, their true colors are exposed. Blahzay blahzay blah." Rolling my eyes while plucking fruit from my plate.
She remains quiet for a little. "I hear that."
"Anthony still hasn't contacted you back huh?"
Shrugging her shoulders. "Nope." What a bitch. "I'm not surprised either. A man that really wants you won't leave you in the dark."
"Awww honeyyy." I sympathize while throwing my arms around her.
"Eww stop. Bitch, I hate when we get like this." She lightly sniffles, hugging me back.
"That's because men are bitches and don't know how to keep their tally knackles to themselves." We laugh as we wipe out tears away.
"Y'all are embarrassing as fuck. Crying in the middle of a restaurant." Imani finally arrives. "This is why I don't drink with y'all emotional asses." She sits her tote down in one of the chairs. "So, what I miss?"
"Bitch, fuck you." I let out. "What was you doing? We've been here for 30 minutes. It's almost 12pm."
Nia cuts in. "Nah. Fuck that. Who you been doing? Girl, that turtleneck ain't hiding nothing. I can see them hickeys from here."
