Leila

The back of my head feels like someone threw a brick at me. I tried blinking to adjust my eyesight. The lights are off and I can't see who's in front of me. The only trail of light I'm receiving is from the moon. I just know there's a tall, dark figure hovering over me. "Damian?"

"I'm not Damian, baby girl."

My eyes finally gain one of its senses and manages to focus my vision as I find Marcus standing before me. I began to scream as hard as I could from my diaphragm. Trying to get away, but I'm tied to some chair.

"Shhhhh." He quickly covers my mouth with his hand. "Baby, please. I don't wanna have to hurt you again. So be a good girl for me." He uncovers my mouth and drags his thumb down my cheek. His eyes are wide and red as if he's really determined to hurt me. "I missed those lips." He jams his tongue through my lips while I snatch away, spitting at him.

Next thing I know, Marcus roughly slaps me across my face. A tear rolls down my eye immediately.

"Ohhh, Lei. I'm sorry I didn't-. Why would you make me do that?! I never wanted to hurt you, baby. You know that right?" I don't answer quick enough for him. "Right!" He growled, gripping my face.

"Yes! Yes!" I cried out as he lets me go. I can't believe this is happening. "Marcus? H-how'd you get into my apartment? How'd you know where I lived?"

He doesn't say anything. He just stares into me with agonizing hatred. "The real question is..." he pulls up a chair in front of me and sits. "What were you doing with him?"

"Who?"

"You kn- Leila, please don't play stupid." Marcus begins to laugh hysterically. "You know who I'm talking about. Is that his name? Damian?"

"Marcus, I-." He slaps me again.

"Answer the fucking question, Leila! Who is he?"

"I don't know." I lied. "He's just some guy I met that night at the club."

"There you go again." He backs away and a tear falls down his face. "You keep lying. Why do you females like to lie? You think I don't deserve the truth?" He stomps back towards me, snatching my hair back. "Is that it?! Huh?!!!!"

"Nooo, Marcus. I swear. Please just let me go." I sobbed in terror.

"Let you go? Why? So you can run back to him? I don't think so. Like I said before, if I can't have you, no one can." He releases his grip. "You know you just sat there, Lei. You watched like a pussy in the corner while this Damian dude cracked into my skull. You let them commit me. Not once did you visit me. I waited and waited for you to come save me. I felt alone without you. I thought... I thought you loved me." He complained having his back to me.

I don't know how I'm going to get out of this, but I only know one way. "I- I do l- love you." I said shaking through my words.

"You do?" He faces me.

"Yes. I didn't know you were committed. I actually went looking for you." I lied again.

"You did?"

"Y-yes. I wanted to talk to you."

"I'm here baby. You got me. What is it? Tell me." He palms both my cheeks.

"I, um. I wanted to tell you that I- I wanted to... get back together."

He serves me a warm smile. "I would like that, but on one condition."

Oh shit. "Yes?"

"Make love to me."

"What?" I need to get out of here.

"I've thought about you the whole time I was in there. I still have all of our pictures, baby. You don't understand how you make me feel, Leila."

Another tear sheds. "Okay. I'll do it. Only... if you tell me... what you did to your ex girlfriend."

His eye twitches. "W-why do you need to know about her? Who told you?" He aggressively wraps his hand around my neck. Squeezing tightly.

"You... told....me."

He lets my neck go as I start coughing uncontrollably. "I loved her." He starts. "But she hurt me. She thought she could just leave. I tried to get her to understand my addiction wasn't a curse... but a blessing in disguise. It helps me see clearly. Between those who are good and evil and she was evil, baby. She had to go. I needed to set her free from the demons that controlled her mind. She doesn't have to suffer anymore. You understand don't you, Leila?"

"Y- yeah. Yes, I do. You did the right thing." More tears begin to fall.

He lets out a sigh of relief. "You're the only one who gets me, baby. You always have. I don't know what the fuck I was doing with those women. You're not like them." He kisses me again. I'm ready to throw up in my mouth, but I hold it together. "I can't wait to feel inside you again." He begins to untie my restraints.

My phone vibrates. Oh, God please let that be Damian.

Marcus stops untying midway, not realizing the knot is loose. "Is that your phone?"

"I-."

He snatches it from my back pocket. "Damian... with the broken heart emoji. He broke your heart, baby?" He asked sincerely but his mood quickly changes. "I thought you said you didn't know him like that. Why is he calling you, Leila?!" Marcus misses the call but calls Damian back, not saying a word.

"Hello? Baby? You there? Leila." His voice makes my lips quiver and another tear sheds down my face.

I could hold back. "Damian!! Damian, help me!!"

Marcus hangs up the phone. "You.... Fucking....LYING BITCH!"

He charges after me, but I allow myself to fall in the chair. Allowing Marcus to trip. I quickly untied the rest of the knot. I got up and ran for the door, but before I could open it, Marcus shoots a hole next to my head.

"Back away from the door. Now." I slowly complied. Facing him with my hands up. He's now on his feet with a gun in his hand. "She did the same, too. Jessica. That was her name. She ran as soon as she saw me. I asked her for forgiveness and she... she said no."

I gulped in fear.

"So I did what any smart man would do. I broke her neck the same way she broke my heart. You're not different Leila. You're just... another.... Jessica. You can join her at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean as well." He shoots again but misses.

Taking advantage of the moment, I ran anywhere I could, taking cover as he continued to open fire.
