Damian
I knew eventually this conversation was gonna happen. Honestly, I don't want it to. Reliving that time in my life was real dark and ominous for me, but I'm sure those men could agree as well. You know, if they were still alive. "I brutally murdered four men. Well three." Why not just get it out the way.
Leila's eyes almost popped out of her head. "Oh..." she nervously wipes her hands up and down her thighs. "W-was there a reason?"
I closed my eyes in remembrance. "There's always a reason, but mine was under pure retaliation. At first. I killed them, because they actively gang raped and murdered a poor and innocent little girl."
She clutched her chest. Leila's expression shows sympathy and heart break. "But why you? Did you know her?"
"No, but that's how I met Fernando. She was his niece. He was a security guard for the prison. He had my back the whole time I was in there. Fernando actually told me he admired the way I handled myself, so he pointed me out to the men who did it. The same exact men who jumped me while I had my back turned. It was perfect timing, Lei. I had a lot of anger and frustration built up and I just needed... no... I craved for that demon to break out its cage. And when it finally opened, I tore into those sorry sons of bitches one by one. They didn't see me coming, but I'm aware they had an idea. I remember one specifically, begged on his knees for me to stop. To let him go. The look of fear in his eyes only ignited the pleasure of dragging that knife across his chest. Carving that same word through his skin."
"Damian?"
"I just couldn't stop, Lei. I needed more, so I looked for more. It was like a fetish that I couldn't resist. The guards and inmates started to wonder where those men disappeared off to. Fernando and I cooked up this plan to save one of the men for last. Frame him for the killings. I made sure to beat the shit out of him first to make it look like those men went out fighting. Fernando paid off another inmate to plant their murder weapons in the guy's cell and from there on.... He was given the electric chair."
I look to Leila as she sits there speechless. What have I done?
"Leila... when I was released, I swore to myself that I wouldn't go back down that road again. I don't feel right about what I did, but it's not like I can go back in time."
She just looks at me and then the floor. "Well, that explains why you said what you said the night you were drunk."
I send her a questioning glance.
"You said I should hate you for what you did and that you even hated yourself. I don't hate you, Damian. I actually understand it."
I'm highly thrown off by her words. "You do?"
"Yes. How I see it, you were going above and beyond to make sure that girl's family had justice for their baby's murder. If I had a child, I would've done the same."
"Yeah?"
She chuckled. "Yes, you psychopath." Leila comes over to stand between my legs and wrap her arms around my neck. "You were being protective. To a woman? That's the sexiest thing a man could do."
"Is that right? You sure you're not the psychopath, baby?" Isn't she in therapy?
She giggles and plants one on my lips. "Probably. I mean how you went about it, sounds like some shit you see in a movie."
"Naah. Was definitely reality, amore mia."
"Do you feel better now?" She asked with those big brown eyes.
"Depends. You feel like fleeing?"
"Hell no. My man kills people. You got me for life." She does this cute little happy dance with her hips. Wow, I knew I was in love with a crazy ass woman.
