Another Love

30 Ex Again

We just landed in Northamptonshire and are now heading to the hotel that will serve as our residence for this week.

Charles was about to park the car when his phone started ringing which made both of us look at it only to see Charlotte's name as the caller ID.

I stared at his phone for a few seconds before removing my seat-belt and saying "I'll give you privacy" getting out of the car as soon as he parked it before he could say anything.

I walked to the back of the car to get both mine and Charles's luggage ignoring the sting in my heart as my mind started to whirl with self-doubt as I was reminded that they were together for 2 years which was a lot of time.

Mia saw me out of the car when I took out the last luggage and looked at me confused but I just smiled and said "Help me?"

Mia helped me with Charles' luggage as we walked towards the reception desk to ask for our key cards and talked about what has been going on in the paddock during the races that I didn't attend before she informed me that Charles and I would be sharing a room and I looked at her confused.

"You guys are okay now, so I thought he would most likely want to share a room with you." She said and before I could reply, Charles spoke behind me as he placed a hand on my waist.

"You know me too well, and it's starting to scare me." Charles said which made Mia laugh as she handed me the key card as we walked towards the elevator.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Cass, as I'm pretty sure you would be at the circuit." Mia said before turning to Charles. "I know we don't have anything scheduled for tomorrow but you better stay out of trouble." She said which made both me and Charles chuckle as she exited the elevator on the floor just below the floor where the room we were supposedly sharing was in.

I was quiet the entire time, still thinking about why Charlotte called Charles and what they talked about that it took almost half an hour, while we were in the elevator all alone until we entered the room.

The first thing I did was to open my luggage and look for clothes to wear to sleep before heading to the bathroom to take a shower, brush my teeth and change.

I walked towards the sofa where Charles was sitting wearing only a pair of shorts, with his head resting on the back of the sofa as he just stared at the ceiling, to tell him to go take a shower and get ready for bed.

"I thought you forgot that I was here." He said as he got up from the sofa and turned to look at me.

"Why would you think that?" I asked him shocked.

"I don't know, you've just been so quiet and maybe, a little bit distant?" He said a bit hesitantly.

"I'm sorry Charles, I'm just tired and the stark difference in weather between Austria and here is triggering my allergies and it's giving me a headache." I said in a quiet voice as I went near him and wrapped my arms around his waist and buried my face on his chest, feeling guilty for lying about the reason why I was quiet but I'm scared of how he would react to it.

I'm scared that he would be angry at me.

"Let's go to bed then. Maybe sleep could help you adjust to the weather difference better." He said as he wrapped his arms around me and placed a kiss on my head before sighing.

I woke up the next day without Charles beside me, which made me feel uneasy but I just thought that maybe he was out training with Andrea which was later confirmed as I grabbed my phone from the nightstand to look at the time and saw that Charles sent me a message saying he was out with Andrea.

I then got up, took a bath, and changed before I headed to the circuit to check on the mobile lab to make sure that we had everything that we needed for the weekend.

Charles was in the garage with Mia when I got down from the mobile lab arguing about something but stopped when they saw me approaching them.

"Everything okay? What are you two arguing about?" I asked the two.

"Yeah, everything's fine. Just some things." Charles said as he placed a kiss on my forehead. I looked at Mia and she just smiled at me.

"I'll leave you two to spend the day by yourselves" She said before walking away towards the hospitality.

"Are you done with work for the day?" Charles asked and I just nodded. "Great. Let's go then. Lando invited us to join them for golf."

We spent the rest of the day with Lando, Carlos, Alex, and Lily, playing golf.

Me and Lily eventually won which left the boys pouting and saying how unfair it was since Lily technically plays golf for a living and she taught me.

We just shrugged and laughed and told them to suck it up and headed to a nearby mall as we all agreed before the golf match started that the losers would be taking the winners shopping and paying for everything they want to buy which was very much Lando's idea.

Lily and I shopped to our hearts' contents before we all decided to have dinner.

Lando and Carlos were complaining and saying how they pity Charles and Alex while looking at all the shopping bags which made Lily roll her eyes and say that we spend our own money when the girls get together to go shopping or to spoil themselves.

We headed our separate ways with Lando dropping Carlos at the hotel after our dinner.

Charles and I said our good nights to Carlos as we headed to our room, where, we both took a quick shower and changed before cuddling on the bed and sleeping.

The next days were uneventful as Charles' schedule was packed so I spent all my time inside the mobile lab except Friday when Lily invited me for a girls' day out so we pampered ourselves the whole day before deciding to tell both Charles and Alex that we would be out partying for the night which Charles replied.

"Have fun, baby. Call me when you want me to come get you."

Lily and I drank and danced until around midnight when we both felt like we are about to be hammered if we continued so we both called Charles and Alex to come pick us up but only Alex picked up and said he was on his way.

I tried calling Charles a couple more times because I was getting worried and Alex comforted me saying that he might have accidentally put his phone on DND and slept so I rode with them and they dropped me off at the hotel only for me to see Charles and Charlotte walking out of the lobby bar while I was about to call Charles again to see if he was alright.

Charles was shocked when he saw me in the elevator just as the elevator doors closed but I just stood there looking at him coldly, and even though I should be feeling mad, hurt and betrayed, I felt numb, maybe because I was intoxicated or maybe my mind already processed this happening after the phone call on our first day here.

Instead of heading to our room, I decided to go to Mia's so I called her to see if she was still awake which thankfully, she was just about to sleep so I asked her if I could sleep in her room because some things happened.

"By the sound of your voice, I'm sure you don't want to talk about it right now so I'll just say everything's gonna be okay and yeah you can come sleep with me."

I sent Charles a message saying "I'm tired and drunk and I just feel like shit so please just let me be. Let me rest Charles even just for the night" before I knocked on Mia's room.
