It was now half past ten. I took a shower and wore some tight-fitting jeans and an olive green hoodie. I gazed outside my window as the beautiful sky caught my eye. It was pretty quiet except for some cars on the road or some pedestrians chatting animatedly. I decided to game a little. Time flew by and I realized I spent four hours just playing video games. A fun escape from reality where everything is under control.
I got into the car and sped off to the office. On the way to Andres's office, I met with Austin.
"No rush much?" he asked, grinning.
"No, not today. We are going to the same place right?" I asked.
"Yeah, let's hurry up – it's five minutes to three, I do like being punctual."
I laughed. We walked to Andres's office and we made small talk about generic topics. Is it weird that I literally met this guy in person like two days ago but I feel like I've known him forever? Or maybe that's just me being too trusting of people.
"Thank you for coming, Mr. Ames" Andres commented when we reached his office and sat down.
"As you know, Meghan is the one who recommended you for this daunting task."
"Yes, I am aware of how big it is. I'm more than ready." Austin said as he looked at me, a big grin plastered on his face.
It made me have butterflies inside. Why? I had no idea. I had just met this guy and he already had such a grip on me, I didn't get it.
Andres went over all the details for Austin's sake or should I say the new Blake Adams. After that, Austin invited me for lunch with a bunch of his friends. To be honest, I wasn't really paying attention. The trip was going to be next week Monday. I was so excited yet terrified as this was going to be the biggest mission of my career.
This could be my make or break, I told myself.
"Meghan, are you good? Austin asked, looking at me with his gorgeous emerald green eyes. I realized I had been talking to myself out loud.
"Yeah, I'm good," I said as I smiled sheepishly. I blushed hard out of embarrassment. That night I couldn't stop thinking about him. I had literally just met this guy but I find myself falling for him hard. Too early? Probably. But I blame my attachment issues that I refuse to acknowledge. I couldn't wait for this mission. I figured I should call Cora as I would miss her the most.
"Hey." She said when she picked up the phone.
"Hey, how have you been? How's the research crew?" I asked.
"Pretty busy, as always." She answered, looking pretty tired.
"So when are you leaving for your mission? She asked.
"Next week, Monday," I said, looking a bit tired.
"Good luck, you're going to absolutely crush it. Love you and I'll miss you a lot. Make sure to call me when you're there. And a picture with the prince wouldn't be so bad, a souvenir if you will. " She said.
I laughed.
"Thank you, love you too and I'll miss you too but I don't know about that prince pic. Goodnight love.
"Goodnight to you too, lovey."
That night before I slept, I did a little more research on the kingdom, and the playboy rumored to have thoughts on abdicating the throne. I looked at some of his pictures and noticed those gorgeous green emerald eyes. They looked quite familiar, quite odd. I ignored that thought. I read that there was a princess who didn't like having her face plastered on every popular magazine and valued lack of attention so this would be interesting. A runaway prince, a secretive princess, and a kingdom with secrets. How exciting!
The next morning, I woke up to an Instagram post from Adam. I swear my blood boiled. It hadn't been even a week and he had already moved on? Such an indirect traitor.  Adam and Ellie were dating now?!? I knew I should've seen those red flags seeing how they were too comfortable around each other. I know I sound like a jealous bitch but my assumptions were correct. But again, I'm not even surprised. But it really hurt. I just got dressed and since it was Sunday, I decided I should go shopping for my upcoming trip. It is pretty cold over there so a lot of warm clothing. I bought a lot of sweatpants and hoodies and some dressy-casual outfits. Don't forget some matching sets of pj's
Just then I got a call from Austin.
"Hey, want to join me for lunch so we can discuss our big trip tomorrow?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure! I know this sushi place, Misoto, close to the office. Let me go home first and change, so I'll meet you at what time?"
"One is fine, I'll pick you up."
Before I knew it, he was in front of my apartment in his midnight black G-wagon, me noticing the tats on his arm as he had worn a T-shirt. Damn, he looked hot with his bulging biceps and that smile, Lord kill me and take me to heaven 'cause wow.
"Hop in!" he said as he smiled, which made my heart skip a beat.
This can't be healthy for sure. I need time to heal as Adam and I were together for two good years. But he already moved so should I shoot my shot?
