"Meg, you're awake!" A voice which I recognized to be Austin's, exclaimed.
"Where the fuck am I?" I asked, sitting up in the bed.
"You're in the royal nursing chambers." Austin replied.
I looked around at the people around me and my heart skipped a beat when I saw Taylor. Our eyes met but they were not the same warm eyes I was used to. They were icy cold and distant. Within seconds, she broke off the eye contact and left the room. My heart sank and I swear tears were welling up in my eyes. But if she was in the room until I was conscious that meant she cared just a little bit? Or am I being delusional?
Just then all the happenings of the previous night came rushing back. Of all people, why did Denise have to be involved in this mission?
"Uh...Meg? Hello?" Austin snapped me back to reality.
"Oh, sorry. My mind was elsewhere. What were you saying?" I asked, though my many thoughts ran around in the back of my mind.
"I was saying that the doctor said you need a lot of rest so I guess we put a hold on the mission for now." He said, fluffing my pillow.
"Austin, we NEED to continue. We just hit a gold mine! How can we stop now?" I asked, getting out of bed.
"I don't know what triggered you yesterday but my gut's telling me it's something to with that Denise woman. What's going on, Meg?" Austin asked, crossing his hands across his chest.
"Well...uh...it's...um..." I stuttered.
I sighed.
"Sit down." I said, patting the spot on the couch next to me.
He sat, looking at me with a puzzled face.
"Denise and I have a bit of a back story. We were in the same orphanage together. We did a couple of crazy shit together. We were so close, we were like sisters. Then I started having feelings for her and I was not sure she liked me back. Then one day, everything changed. We had escaped from the orphanage, got drunk and fucked. The next day, she treated like she just didn't fucking pleasure me the previous night and just like that, our strong bond died and she iced me out. A while later, she was adopted and I never saw her again. I remember crying almost every night, because of her." I narrated, tears welling up in my eyes and eventually trickling down my cheeks.
"I am so sorry, Meg." Austin sympathized with me, pulling me into a tight hug as I cried my heart out.
Then I stopped. Why am I crying over a bitch who doesn't care about me anymore? You know what? It was time for revenge, vengeance is you please.
"That bitch! She has to pay for this!" I spat out.
"No, we are strictly not doing that. What you need to do is move on not pay her back for a mistake she made years ago. Keeping all this anger and hurt bottled up is not healthy, Meg. I know you are fully aware of that. You need to move on in order to have a peaceful state of mind. Not you breaking down if even just her name is mentioned." Austin stated and I had to admit, he was right.
Revenge would only make me hurt worse. I should just pour all these intense feelings to solving the case.
"Thank you, Austin. I don't know how I would have survived on this mission without you." I said, wiping my tears, a soft smile creeping up on my lips.
"Of course, it's me! How could you possibly survive without my gay ass brightening the fuck out of your day?" He said, playfully punching my arm.
I chuckled. I was lucky to have an Austin in my life.
But now back to business. We needed to find out what ties Denise had with the prince. That would mean we had to keep a close eye on him. Just then, the door swung open, one of butlers coming in.
"The princess is asking for you." He said.
"I'll be right there." I said, standing up from the couch.
I hugged Austin one last time and whispered a 'thank you' in his ear and rushed to my room. I took a quick shower, threw on some clothes, ruffled my hair to give it some volume. After I was satisfied with my look in the mirror, I made my way to Taylor's office, more determined than ever.
"You asked to see me?" I asked, Taylor not even looking away from her monitor.
"Yes, are you better now?" She asked, not in her usual kind voice, but in a hoarse voice that indicated irritation.
"I am, your majesty." I answered politely.
"Good, now get to work." She said, her eyes still glued to the monitor.
I left the room, a bit sad to be honest. I honestly did love Taylor but shit wouldn't work out between us. After that interaction, my heart couldn't help but ache the whole day. Being in the same car with her was torture as she hardly noticed my existence. I wanted her to notice me but at what risk would I do that? I know she could feel the undeniable connection between us, but I am the one who broke it off. Now I'm seriously regretting my actions but it's all for my career.
As exhausted as I was, there was to be a royal ball that night. A charity ball, to be precise. Which I had to attend. On reaching my room, I threw myself on the bed 'cause of how exhausted I was. I really didn't want to attend the ball because I knew BOTH Alexander AND Taylor would be there. I hadn't even talked to Alexander since the day on the rooftop.
After a while of literally sitting on my bed and staring at the wall for an hour, I dragged myself out of bed and to the shower. The feel of the drops hitting my body was soothing. A wild thought popped in my mind.
What if Taylor were here? What would happen?
I began imagining her hands all over my wet body. Just the thought of her close to me, turned me on like fuck. Before I knew what I was doing, I was touching myself where I imagined her touching me. Before long, I had slipped two fingers in my wet folds, curling them inside of me, making me throw my head back in pleasure. I kept curling them in me and pumping them in and out of me, hitting my G-spot multiple times. I came undone on my fingers as moaned out her name.
Fuck! What am I doing?
Let me just ready for the ball.
I was provided with this stunning midnight black off shoulder dress that hugged my body in all the right places. I was just finishing up when I heard a knock on my door.
"Hey, you ready Meg?"
"Yeah, just a minute." I said, taking a last look in the mirror.
I opened the door to find Austin, looking gorgeous in his navy blue tux.
"Shall we?" He asked, extending him arm for me to interlock mine with his.
I hope this can be a peaceful night...
