In a jiffy, we arrived at the sushi restaurant. I ordered some tiger Japanese rolls and he had the same. We ate and talked about our expectations for the mission and how cool it's going to be to expose some secrets and who knows how far back they may stretch. After lunch, he dropped me back home, giving me a hug before I went in. That did it, my face turned as red as a tomato. I really liked this guy. But I didn't have the guts to say anything. What if he's just like Adam?
That night, I packed my suitcase as I intensively thought of how this mission is going to turn out. Will I finally gain the courage to tell Austin I like him or will I find someone else? I guess we'd find out.
"Hey Cora, have you ever liked someone within a very short time? I asked, trying to be vague as possible.
"Yeah, but it didn't turn out as I had hoped. He already had a boyfriend so we just stayed friends. Pretty funny how life is. Why?" Cora asked.

"Uhh.....no reason," I said.

"Goodnight and love you." I quickly cut the call. Shoot! I never checked whether he was together with someone. Anyways I had to go to sleep as I was traveling the next day. As I lay in bed I hoped I wouldn't screw the mission up.

Then my phone vibrated. It was Adam calling. We hadn't talked since the incident.

"What do you want?" I said, my anger building up inside.

" I just want to explain what happened," he said, his soothing voice almost throwing me off.

"There's nothing to explain Adam. You made a decision so, enjoy life with Ellie. You didn't even have the decency to break up with me like a normal person. Instead, you go around kissing girls like I don't even exist. I gave you my everything Adam, why did you do this to me?" I ranted out.

The receiving end was quiet.

"What do you have to fucking say?!?" I questioned.

Dead silence. Then the line went dead.

That jerk.

The next morning, I woke up bright and early and headed to the airport with Austin.

"You ready? Not nervous, I hope?" he asked, as were driven to the airport.

"I'm fine, thank you," I said abruptly.

That morning I had met Ellie and boy, was it unpleasant. I was walking to Andres' office to finalize some documents and someone behind me was calling me.
"Meghan, please wait up!"

Turning around I met face to face with Ellie, that backstabbing girl.

"What do you want?" I asked, clearly perturbed.

"I just wanted to apologize for that night. I didn't know what came over me." Ellie said, her face showing slight remorse.

"To be honest, I want to be mad at you but I guess it was time for us to end it. But I still can't believe you went for it even after you've known we're together." I commented.

"I had had too much to drink that night. I'm really sorry." She apologized.

"Well enjoy your life with that jerk," I said as I walked away.

"Good luck on your trip!" I heard her say in the distance.

After finalizing the documents, I hopped in the car which was going to pick up Austin. I couldn't shake off how mad I was getting over Ellie all over again. I thought I had moved on.

"Are you alright, you seem a bit tense," Austin asked, holding my hand.

"It's nothing, just a bit nervous to be flying," I said, slowly drawing my hand away.

Minutes later, we were at the airport and while checking in, Austin got us some coffee.

"A caramel macchiato, my favorite. How'd you know? I asked.

"I didn't, it's my favorite too. Looks like we have lots in common." He said as he smiled.
I blushed hard.

Flight to the Azov Kingdom, head to gate C18, and have a nice flight.

"That's us, come on," Austin said, pulling me.

This is your captain speaking. This is a six-hour flight so sit tight and enjoy the flight.

It was to be a very long flight so I might as well get comfortable. Without wasting time, I began binge-watching a series on the screen in front of me as I waited for the food. Some of the perks of flying first class. Halfway into the flight, the plane seemed to start shaking.

This is your captain again. We seem to be experiencing some turbulence. Kindly stay in your seat and remain belted. This will be sorted out soon.

I was so scared and Austin seemed to notice that. He held my hand until everything went back to normal.

"Are you okay? You look very red." He asked.

"Just......nervous." I said, my heart threatening to beat out of my chest.

The rest of the flight went smoothly. I got to know more about Austin and before we knew it, we had landed in the prestigious Azov Kingdom, ready to tackle our assigned case. A taxi drove us to the hotel we would be staying for the night. It was luxurious, the beds spread in silk sheets. We checked in and I took a shower and just rested as the jet lag was setting in. The next day we were to initiate our mission. We were to go interview for our respective positions. I just hoped everything would run smoothly.

Just then, I heard someone knocking on my door.

"Hey Meghan, want to go sightseeing?" A voice asked.

"Who is it?" I asked though I had an idea who it was.

"Austin. Come on it'll be fun to see where we'll be staying for the next few months."

"Sure. Let me change it first. Meet you in ten?"

"Okay." He answered.

This might be my chance to see whether he's available, I thought to myself. I put on a long-sleeved white shirt and some cargo pants and went to the lobby and called Austin. In a few minutes, we were out of the hotel and at a Chinese restaurant, serving the most delicious food I had tasted. If you hadn't noticed by now, I love Asian cuisine.

"So Austin, you with anyone right now?" I asked, regretting how straightforward I was the minute I finished my sentence.

"Actually, yes." He said.

My heart sank with that comment. Not meant to be I guess. Might as well learn about her.

"So who is she?" I asked, pretty bummed.

"It's a he." He answered looking pretty shy all of a sudden.

"Oh," I said, quite taken aback.

"Yeah, he's really nice. I really love him. Never felt like this with anyone else." He said, blushing really hard.

"I'm glad you've found someone who makes you happy. I thought I had but I was wrong." I said, my rage slightly building remembering Adam.

"I'm sorry, Adam right?" He said, looking at me sympathetically.

"Yeah," I said bluntly, staring into mere oblivion.

"Enough about me. So how did you guys meet and how did you know you liked each other?" I asked Austin.
He told me everything and I could see how much he loved him, Spencer. His eyes sparkled and he blushed so hard talking about him. Wow, I hope to find someone who makes me that happy one day.

But with my luck, my love clearly doesn't seem to be reciprocated.
