The following morning, I carried myself hopelessly towards the Slytherin table for breakfast but I didn't have any mental nor physical energy to do so as the past day's DADA class had left me hopeless but still, I am a remarkable student and I can't just leave classes for a week because of a silly boggart that I didn't even have to defeat. It was pretty useless for me to do such a thing, that's why I found myself sitting at my house's table at 6AM, listening to a bunch of students buzz about Quidditch.I was a fan of Quidditch but I wasn't as big of a fan as Quinn or Malfoy but still, my passion was there. But, right now, everyone was so excited over the new trials for spots on the house team--Slytherin had already reserved the 3PM time for their quidditch trials which was precisely the reason why the entire table was so noisy and it made my head ache
'Ya think I can become a beater this time, Levesque?' grinned Quinn as he came into my field of vision.
Quinn was very passionate about the sport and had desired to become one of the greatest players ever. He'd been trying to get on the house team for the position of a beater since his second year but failed to do so but this year, he seemed much more determined and I'm really hoping he does.''Course. If they don't, I'll just beat Flint until he does,' I replied.
'You've always got my back!'I wasn't anticipating my next DADA class at all. I didn't have much of an opinion on Lupin--he seemed nice enough; what I dreaded was having to face him after how I'd ran out of his class the previous day. What's worse is that he took notice of it and sent Malfoy after me.
Reluctantly, I opened the door to his class. There, I saw everyone busy conversing with each other and I made sure to quickly sit beside Blaise--Quinn wasn't there and I assumed that was probably due to quidditch.
Soon, Lupin entered the class and continued his lesson on boggarts after he abruptly ended the previous one. This class was to further develop our understanding of boggarts but instead of doing live practicals with the real thing, we were forced to look at his tedious slides that he had prepared.
The lesson ended as quickly as it started. The class was dead silent as everyone already had a basic understanding of boggarts and how to deal with them thanks to yesterday's class. No one really bothered to ask Lupin any questions or try to do anything fun. Even Malfoy remained quiet--the most we got from him were a few witty comments and insults which Lupin and the entire class ignored.
However, as I tried to leave class as quick as I could in order to prevent myself from being interrogated by him or any other student, I was stopped by Lupin's soft voice calling out to me and telling me to remain in the class.
Obviously, I knew where this was going.
The class emptied and I bid my goodbyes to both Malfoy and Blaise, who seemed to be very worried and curious as to why I was in trouble with Lupin of all teachers--I did manage to reassure them and say that I wasn't staying behind for anything serious. Malfoy eventually understood and was then dragged out by fanclub; it took Blaise a little more convincing but eventually, they all left.
Then, Lupin turned to me, 'Ms Levesque, I noticed you rushing out of my class yesterday, you seemed very distressed so I wanted to know if you're doing well now.'
I nodded in response, informing him that I was indeed doing much better than I did the previous day.My response caused him to smile. I saw how he looked now, he seemed to be in a much better physical state though still, stress and pain lingered on his features as if he was forced to carry the burden of the world on his shoulders. I knew he was young but he didn't seem like it--his horrifying life had caught up to him and made sure to display his painful past all over his body in the form of scars, greying hair and wrinkles.
