As December carried on, no one would stop buzzing about the ball. Every corner I turned to, there'd be someone conversing about it or asking someone else to attend the ball with. There really was no escape.

I never was the one to look forward to dancing events where all the prying eyes of the wizarding world would be but after realising that THE Victor Krum had asked me of all people to accompany him there, I couldn't help but look forward to it.

On one productive study hall session--in which, no one was really studying and everyone was just talking about the ball--Blaise, who was sitting in-front of me, writing his potions homework said: ''Esque, you better hurry up and find a date for the ball--wouldn't want you to the only single one.'

'Actually, I do have a date,' I said. My statement earned me a grin from Daph and a scoff from Draco.

'Oo really? Who is it?' came the voice of Parkinson, whose arms were stuck onto Draco's. She was looking at him with such affection while poor Draco was merely trying to finish his DADA essay.

'I'm not saying--' but my sentence was cut off by Draco, who didn't look to pleased to know that I had scored a date with the Bulgarian seeker. 'She's going with Krum,' Draco said in a rather harsh tone.

Gasps left both Parkinson and Blaise's mouths. 'You're joking! There's no way! You're lying. Now come one, Levesque, who is it really? Is it Longbottom?' Parkinson asked.

'No, it really is true, she's going with Krum, I was there,' Daph vouched for me. Her words made Parkinson sneer and then turn her attention back to Draco, who didn't look too happy with her being there. She mumbled something about his hair with a slight smirk on his face as she wrapped her fingers around his platinum blonde locks.

'Hey, Levesque,' Parkinson called out to me, 'will you please tell him his hair looks sexy pushed back?' Parkinson played with his hair, pushing it back every now and then as a feeble attempt to make me angry, though, I wasn't having it.

'Your hair does look sexy pushed back,' I replied, simply. My response caused both Blaise and Daph to snicker but Draco was left baffled in the middle of the hall. Parkinson smirked and looked at Draco again, playing with his hair.

I knew she was just trying to make me jealous after the previous night Draco and I shared in the bathroom but honestly? I wasn't even jealous at all. Sure I would've loved to go with Draco but not going with him, made me go with Victor, of all people and it was probably the best thing that happened to me this year.

'Damn, anyways, that just leaves you, Quinton,' Blaise said, changing the topic of conversation and turning to my best friend, who was busy with a transfiguration essay.

'I already have a date--it's Hermione,' he stated, not looking up from his essay.

'Can't believe someone asked that mudblood to the ball and it's you, Todd,' mumbled Draco to Parkinson, for which she chuckled.

'I thought you both were just friends?' pestered Blaise but I knew this was an uncomfortable topic for him so I immediately changed the subject of the conversation. 'Since you're so interested in our dates, who are you going with, Blaise?' I asked.

'I'm going with Daphne--that reminds me...' he began and turned to Daph, giving her all of his attention. 'Will you go to the ball with me, dear Daphne?'

Daph did not expect this and immediately gasped as a huge smile found its way onto her face. 'Of course I will!'

'There you have it! Now we all have dates!' said Blaise with a grin.

And throughout the day, those grins never left Blaise nor Daph's face. 'I can't believe it! Blaise really asked,' is what Daph would say every now and then and her face would be flushed pink every time she said it.
