The Slytherin's victory had apparently gotten to Draco's brain; just this morning, Potter had received a Firebolt from someone anonymous and the entire school was interested in it. Even Draco came to admire it but obviously, it's Draco we're talking about so he insulted it a lot more than I'd like to imagine but it resulted in his ego shattering by Hermione commenting on his seeker skills. It was deserved, though.

Furthermore, the match after the Slytherin one was Ravenclaw against Gryffindor--Draco, being the idiot he is, decided to scare Potter off his broom by dressing up as a dementor. It was a foolish plan, to say the least and it backfired, as expected as Potter had managed to counter it with a spell which resulted in him being knocked out for quite a while.

Not to mention, Draco tried to enrope Blaise and Quinn into this as well but they denied so Draco decided to ask Crabbe, Goyle and Flint for help instead.

Draco lost 50 points, I think, from our house and Potter's team still won in the end--sheer luck, I'd say.

Then, to make matters worse, Black was found in the Gryffindor dormitories for the boys, with a knife held to Weasley's head. This made the entire school lose their minds, to think that Black was so close to taking the life of a student. I wish he'd actually gone through and took Weasley's life for all I cared.

So yes, this week was very eventful but at least there was a Hogsmeade trip to look forward to.

''Esque, is it true you're staying behind this time around?' asked Quinn as he walked me to DADA, I nodded.

I've been to Hogsmeade twice now and even though the castle's quite suffocating at times, I wanted to stay behind for once as I enjoyed the tranquillity of the castle that I felt during winter break and wanted to experience it again, Also, I had some ulterior motives but I didn't want to ponder over them right now.

'Why? You out of all of us hate this castle,' noted Quinn.

'Well, yes but I'm going to stay behind and study a bit, I'm particularly struggling with dark arts and I believe this is the only time I'll get a moment with Lupin, alone,' I answered. I wasn't lying to him--not at all. I was going to visit Lupin during this day but not about studying though, but about my mother.

I couldn't believe I'd forgotten about my conversation with Lupin in which he confirmed that he had known my mother. If I'd done the maths correctly, mother graduated 3 years before Lupin even came to Hogwarts so that bit of misinformation has been ruining me.

'Is it really worth losing a day off for Lupin?' Quinn asked, still unsure of my excuse.
'Yes!' I sternly replied, causing Quinn to immediately stop questioning me.
'Alright, alright, I'll get you something from Honeydukes then... chocolate? Yes?'

'Yn! I can't believe you're leaving me alone with that lot; hanging out with them alone is worse than the cruciatus curse!' whined Daph as she took her leave from the castle.

'You're being overdramatic besides, Draco isn't even going with them today so you'll be free from his wrath and Quinn's probably with Hermione so you'll get your alone time with Blaise, don't worry,' I smirked.

'Alone time with Blaise? Why would I need th-- Ohh, 'Esque no! It's not like that!' she said.

'Sure, sure,' I joked, 'well go on now! You're going to be late!'

'Oh right!' she hugged me, 'I'll get you some butterbeer, bye!'

I bid her goodbye and quickly left in the direction of Lupin's office once I was sure that all my friends had gone.

As I stepped through the quiet halls of Hogwarts, I couldn't help but feel a sense of both curiosity and trepidation as I made my way to Lupin's office. It was late in the afternoon, and the castle seemed to hold its breath, considering how it was nearly empty except for the hum of a few students.

As I reached his office, I hesitated for a moment, my hand hovering over the doorknob--I knew this was where I'd get all those questions answered and frankly, I was horrified. With a deep breath, I pushed the door open, revealing a cosy and cluttered space filled with books, parchments, and magical artifacts. The flickering candlelight gave the room an ethereal glow, and the scent of old parchment filled the air.

'Professor Lupin?' I called out softly, not wanting to disturb the serene atmosphere.

A figure turned from the bookshelf, and I was met with the warm, kind eyes of Professor Lupin. His friendly smile put me at ease instantly, and I felt a rush of relief to find a familiar face amidst the empty halls.

'Ah, Yn,' he said, his voice gentle, 'what brings you here at this hour? Why aren't you at Hogsmeade?'

I took a step into the office, closing the door behind me, 'Well sir, I didn't go since I wanted to ask you about something... something about my family...' I replied, my voice steady.

It was as if his entire demeanour had changed--his face dropped bu he forced it into a smile as he motioned for me to take a seat, and I obliged, feeling grateful for his welcoming yet concerned aura.

'What is it?' he asked, his eyes now focused onto my smaller frame.

Taking a deep breath, I asked: 'how did you know my mother?'

'Oh well, like I said, I knew her until my third year,' he began, his eyes now averted, he wasn't looking into my eyes at all, 'your mother, she... she was a defense against the dark arts teacher here.'

This information hit me like a truck, I didn't know that my mother had a teaching career prior to being the minister's right-hand-woman. 'A teacher...?' I ask, wide-eyed.

He nodded, 'she wasn't a good teacher, I'm sorry to say even though she taught well but she was very bias, especially towards Snape--which was why we disliked her; she's the reason why Snape even wants this job,' he chuckles. 'Anyways, she liked all the Slytherin students and towards the rest? She treated them horribly--kind of like how Snape is with everyone. She treated my friends and I the worst--always taking points from our house for no reason at all.'
