Hallowe'en feast was marvellous but due to the adrenaline that was coursing through our veins due to our Hogsmeade trip, almost every Slytherin was very much awake. Our common room was filled to the brim with students in their first to seventh year--all conversing with each other. Moreover, the lights were very much on in each and every dorm room.
Blaise had retired to bed quite early saying that he was very exhausted from the trip but the rest of us were awake: I sat on the couch while I played mindlessly with Daph's hair whereas Draco and Quinn were discussing quidditch strategies with Marcus Flint--our team's captain--as well.
Suddenly, Snape burst into our common room--this was probably the first time we'd ever seen him enter this part of the castle. Snape looked the same as always, monotone voice and exasperated face. 'You are all to come to the great hall at once, in neat and orderly lines. I will have the prefects, head girl and boy escort you all. There will be no talking or chatting amongst you all,' is what he said and almost at once the four leaders of our house began to organise and send us all off to the great hall.
Confusion and panic spread like a wildfire amongst the Slytherins, all questioning and debating on what could've been the cause of this sudden escort and at such a late time as well.
'I say Sirius Black has stricken again!' Draco said.
'That's rubbish, he can't have gone through the dementors placed at every entrance,' commented Daph.
'I agree but he escaped Azkaban so he could do it again now, can't he?' Quinn said.
'Why did the prefect wake me up in the middle of my slumber?' came the voice of Blaise who looked very fatigued and was rubbing his eyes as he trailed behind the rest of us.During our journey from the dungeons to the great hall, Parkinson had managed to cling herself onto Draco, who looked extremely disturbed. Whereas, Quinn had wrapped his arm around me saying that he'd protect me from Black if we ever found him (though, Quinn can't even fight a boggart if his life depended on it.)
'--For your own safety, you will all have to spend the night here,' Dumbledore had vaguely explained to us. Though, he only mentioned safety which meant that nearly everyone assumed that it had to do something with the escaped Azkaban prisoner. There was an immediate uproar from the students asking question but were cut off by the scoldings of Snape which managed to make almost everyone crawl into their sleeping bags.
The sleeping bags were all loosely sprawled across the great hall and each bag was large enough to fit an entire giant. They were all in hues of dark purple; Quinn and I managed to find some at the near corner of the castle and we both situated ourselves there, soon joined by Blaise and Daph; though, Draco was stuck with Parkinson who was desperately trying to make him sleep next to her.
'Shouldn't anyone go and save Malfoy? He looks like he's struggling,' suggested Daph, who looked concerned for Draco. Apparently, during our times spent together, Daph had begun to tolerate Draco.
'This is where you step in, 'Esque,' Blaise smirked as he opened up his sleeping bag.
'Why me?' I scoffed. Watching Draco suffer with her was far more entertaining than being his knight in armour.
'Oh please,' said Quinn, 'we all know how scared Parkinson is of you.'
Parkinson? Scared of me? 'You're joking.'
'No, she really is. I used to be her friend and can confirm,' said Daph, 'apart from being jealous and despising you--she's intimidated also.'
'Yes, 'Esque! Now go on and save our little blondie!' smiled Quinn as he nudged me forward towards Draco's direction.I rolled my eyes and walked towards him. I wasn't really in the mood to argue with anyone, let alone someone like Parkinson for Draco but our entire friend group wanted their blonde best friend back so I couldn't let them down now, can I?
Furthermore, I really disliked how Parkinson would cling onto him and pretend that they're a couple. It's disgusting, really. I genuinely felt bad for Draco who had to endure something like this.
