From the first few lines,
Your unbreakable voice,
I knew what you would be.
And you were young,
Stage presence,
A kind heart,
And so I told you,
And you said "thanks."
I always hoped you'd hold on to that.
Time passes, though,
And you've grown,
So I ask if you remember what I told you,
Because I can see you pacing back and forth.
"No." So I tell you again,
And this time you smile and I think it really hits you.
There are so many things I wonder.
Will you remember all our names?
Or the songs we sang backstage?
I wish you would.
But if there's one thing you always remember,
I hope it's this.
