Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn, is a DC comic supervillain first appearing in Batman: The Animated Series ''Joker's Favor'' (September 11, 1992). Her character was created by Paul Dini (writer) and Bruce Timm (artist). Harley Quinn has become one of DC Comics ' most popular and profitable characters. She has also appeared in Superman: The Animated Series (1996), The New Batman Adventures 1997), Static Shock (2000), Justice League (2001) and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000).
Character Background
Harley Quinn was a career-oriented psychologist at Arkham Asylum in Gotham City. Her life took a drastic change when she met her patient, the Joker. She fell in love with him and helped him to escape from the Asylum. Renaming herself Harley Quinn, she became his sidekick in the hopes of winning his love. The pair went on a crime spree across the United States, cultivating a poisonous relationship.
Powers & Abilities
Gymnastic skills - She won a gymnastics scholarship at Gotham City's Gotham State University.
Immunity to toxins, enhanced strength, agility, durability, and reflexes - she received these abilities after being injected with a serum concocted by Poison Ivy (Also, it's said that it gave her the ability to breathe underwater).
Genius Level Intellect - She's highly qualified in psychoanalysis, criminology, and forensic psychiatry as a former Arkham psychiatrist.
Skilled in using various weapons - often employing weaponized clown-themed gag items, including pop guns, rubber chickens, and a gun that shoots a boxing glove, as well as oversized pistols and mallets, the latter being her signature weapon.
Personality
Harley Quinn is a bubbly, energetic, and charming woman. She often hides her demented mind behind a childish exterior, which she can combine with the flirtatious demeanor of a woman who is aware of her good looks and will use them to get what she wants. Also, she suffers from multiple personality disorder, homicidal tendencies, Stockholm syndrome, and possibly shared psychotic disorder.
