Her first appearance was in Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 2, Winter 1991, in a story plotted and drawn by Steve Ditko and scripted by writer Will Murray.

Nobody can defeat Squirrel Girl and her faithful squirrels, not even Galactus!

She has the appearance of a human character portrayed in fact with squirrel's tail and brownish fur. She has short, straight brown hair, protruding upper incisors and is equipped with claws. In her first appearance, she is 14 years old, and has diamond-shaped makeup around her eyes.

During Squirrel Girl's first encounter with Iron Man, she provided a detailed demonstration of her powers and abilities: a furry, prehensile tail roughly 3–4 feet long, sizeable buck teeth strong enough to chew through wood, and superhuman strength and agility that allows her to easily jump between trees. Her fingers have sharp claws that assist her with climbing, and she possesses retractable "knuckle spikes" roughly 2-3 inches long on each hand.

Squirrel Girl, in addition to possessing classic superhero/villain characteristics such as superhuman strength and reflexes and hidden weapons, is also able to understand and speak the language of rodents, thus managing to control and command a horde of feral squirrels, with which she has succeeded to defeat various antagonists. Some of her squirrels have become recurring sidekicks and side characters in her series.

In fact, our nice friend has a series of victories underway, each more spectacular and unlikely than the other... she has defeated Doctor Destino, Deadpool, Wolverine and even Thanos, one of the most powerful and evil beings in the universe.

At the level of probability, counting every time she has destroyed enemies immensely more powerful than her, she is the one with the most possibility of destroying the Man of Steel.

The key to her victories is that she knows how to use her powers very well, thinks outside the box, and her opponents always underestimate her. And of course... because he has squirrels on her side!
