Capt. Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers, also known as Captain America, is a Marvel superhero first appearing in Captain America Comics #1 (1941) of Timely Comics (the predecessor of Marvel Comics). Gaining popularity through wartime comics published during World War II, the character of Captain America was often seen fighting the Axis powers. Like many Marvel superheroes, Captain America has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Portrayed by American actor Chris Evans, the character has appeared in numerous movies, such as Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Character Background
Steve Rogers was born on July 4, 1918, to Irish immigrants Joseph and Sarah Rogers. Raised in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, New York, Rogers grew up during the Great Depression. Born with poor health, he suffered from chronic colds, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, asthma, anxiety, scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, and more. These ailments resulted in his rejection from enlisting into the military service during World War II. However, upon being selected as the lone recipient of the Super Soldier Serum, he became the world's first known superhero.

He is a classic example of the Lawful Good alignment.
