Some people believe that Thanos, Galactus, or Korvac are some of the possible contenders for the most powerful Marvel Comics villain. Although, in my opinion, they are probably wrong. Don't take this the wrong way, I love how amazingly O.P. those fellows are, and especially include them in the top dogs of the Marvel Universe, but there is one person/mutant/shadow/thought who takes my top pick. His name is Onslaught.
BIO: Onslaught isn't just your normal everyday mutant, but was actually born through a psychic event.
During one of Magneto's plots to destroy humanity, for like the thousandth time, he was savagely defeating the X-men as they attempted to stop his evil plot. But, as each of his students began to fall in this epic battle, Professor Xavier had enough. Using his telepathic powers, Professor X completely shut down Magneto's mind, all together. But, as he did so, Magneto's mental hatred for humanity fused with Professor X's fears and doubts, to create the being known as Onslaught.
Onslaught is a psionic entity that is both a mutant, a living shadow, and a living thought. As the literal brain child of Magneto and Professor X he possesses all of their powers, and more.He could use all of Magneto's powers of magnetism to fly, control metal, and distort the entire planet's magnetic field; which, for those who watched X-men: Apocalypse, that is actually canon to the comics. Onslaught also possesses all of the mental super powers of Professor X, such as extremely advanced telepathy, telekinesis, mind reading, mind erasing, and much more.
But, what's truly amazing is the powers he possesses that are all his own.
He has the power to alter both his size, and his mass. This ability greatly enhances his strength, and durability. He has used this ability to backhand the Juggernaut from one side of the USA to the other side, specifically the X-men mansion.
Although, the ability which has led him to be number one on my list is his most famous ability. He possesses the ability to absorb people/beings, and take their powers for his own, using them to amplify powers he already has, or give him ones he hasn't already had.
One person who was absorbed by Onslaught to amplify his powers was the other dimensional son of Jean Grey, who held great psionic powers. This greatly amplified Onslaught's mental powers. But, the person he absorbed that granted him the potential to have the power to control reality itself, the son of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). Which gave him the power to manipulate the fabric of reality itself, create dimensions, travel to other dimensions, destroy dimensions, and his powers work wherever he goes (something an Infinity Gauntlet can't do).
But, his one weakness is that the people he absorbs are sent to a dimension within Onslaught, and can have the potential to break out, with the right tools. But still, even though he has been killed, reincarnated, imprisoned, and defeated again, he is still a high ranking Villain on my scales.
