"I'm the answer to all your questions and the key to all your problems" he grinned, "thank you, you may applaud now"
And they did.
Crowds were never a problem for him, he had a certain charm that drew everyone in, making them drop everything else to focus on him. It was addicting, all the attention on him, the adoring smiles, their placid faces. He could tell them to jump off a bridge and they would.
The room was full of people, teenagers of all ages gathered around a ping pong table. Some of them were lazing around in chairs, some were playing ping pong, some were fidgeting and one even had a knife she was carving something into the table with.
The effect of his words was immediate. Everyone went from looking murderous to soft smiles and wide eyes. Even the muscular girl with the knife dropped it and stared at him. Gods, he would never get over this. He knew he was hot, but this was something else entirely.
Only three people remained unaffected. The wheelchair man, a blonde girl and an asian girl with long dark hair who frowned.
"He's charmspeaking, you idiots," said the dark haired girl.
Hadrian made a show of widening his eyes and chuckled in a friendly way, "I'm not a child of Aphrodite, I can't charmspeak. But I take it as a compliment you thought I was good looking enough to doubt me"
"He's right," Said the blond girl. The same voice from earlier. Hadrian diverted his full attention to her, anyone who agreed with him was definitely smart. "He's not a child of Aphrodite, border patrol found him with a bow"
"Oh, so children of Aphrodite are incompetent with bows? Is that what you're saying?"
"Drew-"
Hadrian itched to ask more about his bow but he clenched his jaw and interrupted. "Would you by any chance know how I ended up here? My memory's a bit fuzzy"
A blond guy stood up. He was built like a statue- toned arms, a strong jaw, light, cropped hair. For a moment, Hadrian almost mistook him for someone else. But no scar. And his nose was different. Even his hair length and color were slightly off.
The ping pong table actually looked like a war council, different demigods- probably the oldest ones from each cabin, discussing a threat. A threat? Him? He felt his skin crawl thinking about how they must have been discussing him.
"Hi, I'm Jason. I'm sorry you caught us at a bad timing, we usually don't argue this much" He looked friendly enough so Hadrian smiled back, "Kayla and Clarisse found you by the Camp entrance, you hit your head pretty hard when Kayla dragged you in. I hope the ambrosia helped."
Now that this Jason guy mentioned it, Hadrian's forehead had a slight bump that hurt when he touched it.
"Uh, you wouldn't happen to know exactly how I got to the camp entrance would you?"
Jason shook his head, "Why? You don't remember that either?"
Hadrian tried for a small smile but it came out shaky.
The next blond to notice him had a mop of light, wavy hair and a green shirt over his camp halfblood tshirt. He was thinner and shorter than the Jason guy, but walked up to him with the same confidence.
"Er-"
"How are you feeling?" He questioned, "I checked for concussion, but you seemed fine. Can you breathe fine? Do you mind if I take your vitals? Have you had any nectar? Ambrosia? Argus, did you give him ambrosia?"
"Will, stop scaring the poor guy" The blond girl from earlier stepped in, she'd walked across the room and put a hand to Will's chest, gently pushing him away and giving Hadrian the space to breathe. Will seemed like a smart guy since he didn't argue with her, just nodded and patted Hadrian on the back before going to sit back in his seat.
