Normally, Hadrian liked being pinned to the wall.
Not when Percy looked so murderous though. "If you want me so bad, all you have to do is say the word, pretty boy"
"Shut up" Percy looked like he was having a mental battle with himself, "Shut up, shut up, for gods sake just for once, shut up"
That's how he knew something was wrong.
He looked angry at himself, like he wasn't sure if he wanted to punch Hadrian or kiss him. In the end he decided to take three steps back, nearly falling onto Hadrian's bed, raking his fingers through his hair. The door to Hadrian's room was closed and he was glad for it. Whatever this was, Percy clearly wanted to deal with it in private.
"This isn't a joke"
His voice sounded strained, like it hurt him to get the words out.
Hadrian remained rooted to the spot, something was very wrong with Percy, he didn't dare step forward, "What's going on?"
"Great" Percy huffed, he looked up at Hadrian with bloodshot eyes, "Fucking great, this is just perfect."
Percy had more mood swings than Hadrian could count. He was like the sea in that way, always different. Sometimes he was calm and enjoyable, sometimes like now, Hadrian understood the true extent of damage the waves could do.
Percy was the storm and he seemed intent on drowning Hadrian.
"I- Percy, can you at least tell me what happened instead of assuming I can read your mind"
"If I could read your mind, I would have left you with the Romans to get trampled on day one" His words hurt like arrows embedded in Hadrian's chest.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He blurted, "You won't give me a straight answer and-"
"You want a straight answer?" Percy stood up, standing so close to Hadrian, he could smell the sea on him. You could take Percy out of the sea, but you couldn't take the sea out of him.
Somehow that made Hadrian angrier.
He'd been itching for something to do. Percy had snatched the opportunity for him to meet Hercules first and now this?
"You were on Kronos' side" Percy said accusatorily, he stabbed his finger against Hadrian's chest, "On Luke's side"
All the color drained from Hadrian's face. He felt like he was freefalling suddenly, the ground under his feet had vanished. Percy caught his expression, his eyebrows furrowed deeper, he balled his fists as if that's all the confirmation he needed. How the fuck did he know? How? Why? Why now? Shit.
"Percy-"
"Shut up" Percy pushed him against the wall again, not caring that his shoulder hurt. "Stop talking, and don't even try to charmspeak me"
"I wasn't- I wouldn't-"
"Please don't tell me what you would and wouldn't do because I just found out you've been lying to me- to all of us since the day you met us" Percy jumped back when his finger grazed against Hadrian's.
"It was a mistake" Hadrian choked out, "I'm sorry, I should have told you but-"
"Stop lying"
"I'm not"
"How the fuck do I know you're telling the truth?"
"Because- because" Oh gods, Hadrian couldn't speak, how had Percy even found out? Hadrian had been having a normal day until Percy grabbed him by the arm from the mess hall and dragged him to his room. "Percy listen-"
