"Happy Monday!"
The office was filled with Haley's loud voice and everyone else is not having it. We are all in a quite bad mood as we had to go to class early today to have a meeting for the upcoming event. Also, I don't think they had a fun weekend, nabitin siguro.
"Anong happy sa Monday?" inis na tanong ni Rhian.
"Kumpleto na ba tayo?" I asked. Para sana maaga kaming makapag-start at matapos na kaagad.
I took my flask to drink some water since my throat dried up while waiting. Kaloka naman kasi itong mga student leaders na 'to, late sa call time.
"Si Clair pa. I-excuse mo na sa class niya," sabi naman ni Zen.
Halos masamid ako sa narinig. "Ikaw na!"
"Ihh, tinatamad ako. Sunduin mo na ro'n! Malakas ka naman sa teachers." Sinipa pa ni Zen ang upuan ko pagkatapos mag-utos.
Padabog akong tumayo. Guess I have no choice, then. I left the office to go to Jade's class and excuse her for the meeting. Nakabuntong-hininga na lang ako. Hindi ko nga siya sinabayang pumasok tapos sa 'kin pa pinasundo. Parang shunga lang.
Bakit nga ba iniiwasan ko siya?
Hindi ko rin alam. I mean, hindi ko siya gustong makasama muna pero hindi rin naman ako galit sa kaniya. Walang anumang sama ng loob ako para sa kaniya pero- ah, basta!
I knocked on HUMSS 1-A's door before opening it. "Good morning, Miss. May I excuse Ms. Navarette po?" I asked as I walked inside holding an excuse letter.
The teacher took it and read it quickly. She signed after reading, which means she allows Jade to be excused. She gave me back the letter and nodded at Jade. Tumayo naman si Jade at tahimik na sumunod sa 'kin.
Nauna na akong lumabas at hinintay na lang si Jade sa hallway.
I gave her the letter and said, "Magpaalam ka sa ibang subject teachers mo. This meeting may take quite some time. At most until your break time." Then I walked off, leaving her.
"Lamig," pabulong niya namang sabi saka patuloy na naglakad at sumunod sa akin. "Hindi mo yata ako sinabayan pumasok? I was waiting for you kanina. Have you seen my messages?"
I just nodded. She flooded me with messages and called me multiple times earlier this morning. She even blamed me because she almost got late for school dahil lang ang tagal tagal ko raw lumabas. I silenced my phone pa nga kasi sobrang ingay na no'n kaninang umaga. Kapit DND tuloy ako.
"I overslept." I reasoned out.
"Nagpuyat ka na naman sa school works, 'no? You must be doing your best," she said which made me freeze for a bit and stare at her. I didn't know that those words would make me soft. I rarely get those.
"What?" she asked when she noticed me staring at her.
I cleared my throat. "Wala, magpaalam ka na sa teachers mo. Una na ako sa office."
I turned my back at her and walked back to the office. Hindi pa man ako nakakarating ay nakasalubong ko na si Jared na may bitbit pang turon.
"Ba't nandito ka?" nagtatakang tanong ko. Hindi pa naman kasi oras ng klase namin.
"Dumaan ako kina Jill, hinatid ko 'yong project niya," sagot niya habang may nginunguya pa. "Dumaan lang ako sa cafeteria, 'di pa ako nag-almusal, e. Gusto mo?" Alok niya pa.
Tumanggi naman ako dahil wala ako sa mood kumain.
"Ay, siya nga pala..." He said then took out his phone. "Baka may gusto kang sabihin sa 'min?"
