Maybe For The Best

The next morning Tessa turns her phone on after the stressful night to come clean to Matthew. She calls him up as she decides it's time she tells him the truth. "Hey Matthew can we talk," she says as Matthew apologizes for freaking out on her last night.

"I shouldn't have been mad sounding towards you when really it's all Liam's fault," he says as Tessa already begins to fight back tears.

"But it's not," she says as she chokes up.

"What are you talking about," asks Matthew who can hear the sadness in her voice.

"It's not all his fault," she cries as Matthew realizes his biggest fear is true.

"Oh no," he says softly and devastated.

"I'm so sorry, we got really drunk after our Sydney concert when we went out celebrating with the entire crew. We got so caught up in our fans and the tour and next thing you know we were drunk and alone. We didn't have sex but we made out in the limo on the way back to the hotel and we stopped before it went any farther," she says as her heart is pounding.

"Oh my god no," Matthew cries over the phone as he can't believe it. "Why."

"Because we are horrible and we let the moment get to us," she says as Matthew asks for more truth.

"Did it mean anything to you," he says as he is choking up from crying.

"Yes at the time but ever since I went back home things have been different. I promise I'm sorry and I wish I never went on that stupid tour. If you want to break up with me I understand," she says as Matthew can't bring himself to hate her.

"I can forgive you but I can't forget. I honestly think since it was just kissing we might can work through it. I'm going to be super uptight but I don't want to lose you, Tessa. I never wanted to and I always feared I would," he says as Tessa cries.

"I don't want to lose you either," she says as the moment nearly breaks her.

"If you promise to never see or talk to him again we might can work this out. I just don't think we can fix this if I have to constantly worry about him when he is around," says Matthew as Tessa totally understands.

"I promise," says Tessa as she tries to bring herself together. They hang up as they both cry alone in their own rooms across the country.

Matthew sends Liam a text that is a warning if he tries anything else. "If you ever talk or touch Tessa again I'll drive to LA myself and kick your ass. You were supposed to be my best friend but instead, you stab me in the back and make out with her. At least she had the heart to tell me when you've done nothing but avoid me and everyone else who ever cared about you," he texts Liam as he is super angry.

Liam who is clubbing with his band in NYC sees the message as he suddenly realizes he knows. He throws his phone on the ground as it shatters on the floor. "Fuck," he says to himself as his fellow bandmates see him stressing out.

"You good bro," they ask as Liam is clearly not.

"No I need to go home," he replies as they all leave the club.

"What happened," they ask as Liam breaks down in the limo.

"I don't know," he replies as he hyperventilates.

He texts Tessa asking if she still has feelings for him but she doesn't reply. She sees the message but she is already four glasses of wine deep as she has no idea what she is doing with her feelings for them both. She cares about them both but each house ends with consequences that she doesn't want to face. Liam's text only upsets her more as her heart is literally tearing itself apart.

Milton walks into Tessa's house to bring her the news of how successful "Halo" has become as he instantly sees the mess. He walks up to her and he sees a empty bottle of wine and another one opened. She turns and looks at him as her mascara is smeared all over her face and her makeup ruined.

"I cheated on Matthew with Liam in Sydney and I just told him. I know we were supposed to talk business and work on some more music but I don't think I can," she says as Milton throws away the empty bottle.

He walks back to her and he sits down on the couch with his own glass. "Life is tough and it doesn't matter how hard you try to navigate it, you're going to hit a rough spot," he says as she lays her head on his shoulder.

"I just didn't think I would ever be in this situation," she says as Milton tries to connect with her.

"What's that," he asks as she takes another sip.

"In love with two people at the same time," she says as Milton knows that is definitely a tough one.

"Maybe you just need more time for your heart to make it clearer to who it needs most," Milton says as Tessa doesn't think it will.

"What if it never does," she says as she tries not to cry.

"Then you're fucked," jokes Milton as he tries to lighten the mood. Tessa laughs as she was expecting some good advice.

"So what do you like about Matthew," he asks.

"He was there for me before I was famous and always supported me. I've spent three years of my life with him practically. He is smart and no matter how down or nervous I am he always makes sure I know I'm great," she tells him as Milton listens.

"And what about Liam," asks Milton.

"He showed me what it was like to let loose and have fun. He has supported me along the way and has been like my best friend. He is super funny and he showed me things about him like his gentleman side that I didn't know existed," she says as Milton drinks his wine.

"Well, I think they both have very good resumes. I'm not going to tell or suggest you who to pick because that wouldn't be fair to you. I think and this is my personal opinion, I think you need to decide who is going to not only support you but give you the happiness you desire. The only thing that really matters is your happiness and that is something only you know the answer to," says Milton as it still doesn't help Tessa with her situation much.
