Chapter 1: Letting go

"I want a divorce! I am now the new CEO of the Mikaelson's companies, the new leader of all that I have worked hard for. My father can no longer control me, or do as he pleases with my life, not anymore. I am done with your selfishness!" Hope Mikaelson, her wife said with so much anger as she yelled at her. "I was wrong, because I thought that you deserved a chance, I thought that you would change, but I was clearly wrong."

"Hope please." Josie said, this was not the first time that Hope had asked for the divorce, but it was the first time that she could see that she was being completely serious about it. Hope had brought up the topic the last couple of months, but the difference was Hope had the papers in her hand, and Josie knew that this was it.

Fear clouded her heart, knowing how serious Hope was about this. She began and said, "I thought that you were cheating on me, so I did what anyone in my place would do, so I confronted the woman that you have been protecting, and not to mention paying a luxury apartment for."

"All I was doing was helping her!" Hope said. "She isn't the other woman if that is what you think, god why are you so damn insecure?"

"Maya has no one. So yeah I brought her to Mystic Falls, and she is my responsibility. Two years ago she left her home to be with me, she has no one, do you hear me? No one. You, along with my father, made sure that she would not be able to make a dissent living here!" Hope yelled at her.

With a frown, Josie began to say. "She could have the job she dreams of, if she just left mystic falls for good - "

"And how so, with no money, in a new town where she has no one." Hope had cut her off before she could finish.

"Then she can go back from where she came from - " Josie said, but once again was cut off.

"That is not the point. Josie, have you not realized it? You think you can control my life, who i become friends with, and who i have in my life." Hope said

"That is never going to happen, EVER! I only went along with this marriage because my father, you know damn well he threatened me with my inheritance, my birthright!" Hope said with anger. "Do you realize how unfair that was to me?"

"And so what if I cheated on you? Why would that matter? You forced Yourself into my life, you forced me into this marriage, you conspired alongside my father to trap me into something I never wanted. You knew damn well that I wanted to be with Maya, but that never mattered to you, I never mattered , or what I was feeling did i? You just had to do what you wanted and squizz yourself into my life!" Hope yelled, her voice laced with venom and anger.

'Forced myself into her life?' Josie thought to herself. 'But i was here first.'Josie
and Hope had been married for two years. Their parents were lifelong friends and had always said that she and Hope were bound to be together.

Hope was a kind hearted person that she came to admire when they were young, she looked up to her. She always treated Josie with kindness and respect. Josie was two years younger than Hope, but that never stopped Josie from telling her how she felt, Hope even came to blush whenever Josie would say that she would marry her some day. But sadly the time came for Hope to go off to college, so that she can master and get her degree, in order to take over her family's company.

Hope only visited mystic falls during the holiday breaks, since she was always busy. When Hope finally returned to stay, she was only twenty-four years old, she was ready to take on her family's business, and all the responsibilities that came along with it. Hope was mature enough, she was brilliant, taller, better looking, and absolutely ready for this. However, when she came back, she brought someone with her, a girl whom she had introduced as her girlfriend, maya lockwood.

Josie never saw this coming. Whenever Hope visited, they would catch up like old times. She would always show her how she felt for her, yet Hope never did anything to stop her. So imagine how heartbroken she was when the woman she loves came back with someone else on her arm.

What was odd was how much maya would act like Josie all the time, they looked nothing alike, but whatever Josie did, maya would copy.

But it wasn't just Josie who was disappointed. When Hope braght home maya, her father, Klaus Mikaelson, was so mad that he tried to bribe the girl to leave for good. He offered a good amount, but she never took it.

After some time, Hope's father forced her to marry Josie. She would have been disowned if she had not. It was Klaus's way of insurance that Maya would to leave for good, because she had no place in their family.

So yes Josie was selfish. The thought of Hope being with another woman made her crazy. So when Klaus insisted on their marriage, she willingly agreed.

Jose was only twenty-two when she married Hope, she was still studying medicine, along with biochemistry at a local university that her mother co-founded, but that did not stop her from being with the woman that she loved. She thought that this was her chance. That eventually Hope would come to love her. She loved Hope with all her heart, that she would do anything for her so they could be together, including to keep Maya away from her.

Klaus, and Josie did everything they could to keep Maya away, they offered her money, they used their power to make sure that she would not get a job, and then finally she was out of the picture, but only for one year. But Josie had to admit that Maya had her ways.

Maya found her way back to mystic falls, with Hope's help.

"Now that I have the power and my father can no longer run this company, I can finally make this decision with no one to threaten me." Hope said coldly. "I want you out of my life Josie, FOREVER!"

"But Hope, please I love you." Josie said, tears welled in her eyes this time. "I did everything so that you could love me. Since I was young, you knew that I have always loved you."

Josie kneeled in front of Hope and wrapped her arms around her. She didn't want to divorce her, she loved her so much it hurt. "Please don't do this. I Love you so much, Hope."

"BUT I DON'T LOVE YOU, I NEVER HAVE AND I NEVER WILL!" Hope yelled at Josie as she pulled her off of her. She then slammed the papers against the living room table.

Hope slammed the table so hard that Josie flinched away from her. For a while it was quiet, all she could think about was what had happened, and all she could do was look at the papers.

'This is it. It has finally come down to this, despite everything I have done to earn her love.' Josie said to herself. Her heart began to hurt as tears ran down her cheeks. She was defeated.

She opened her mouth, yet no words were said. Before she could say anything at all, Hope groaned, then said. "You are unbelievable! What happened to the Josie I used to know?"

'What does she mean, i'm the same Josie i have always been, the only difference is i tried fighting for what i thought was right. For her, for her love.'

Hope clenched her jaw before saying. "I'm leaving. I have better things to do." She pointed to he divorce papers and continued. "I'll give you one week to sign the papers." She began to leave when Josie said. "Where are you going?"

"No where that concerns you." She began to walk then said. "Maybe I'll stay at Maya's apartment anywhere but here." The last thing Josie heard was the door slammed closed
