It has been two years since the day she got on that plane and left, two years of traveling with Lizzie and Mg, and two years of missing Hope with all her heart. But she is doing the best she can.
Josie had just gotten home, it's been a week since they got to New York. Since they left mystic falls and started traveling, Josie has been going from hospital to hospital helping out the best she can, and it helps that she has a degree, bachelor, and master in, bio, and medicine. Lizzie and Mg have been helping by starting a foundation to help those who don't have the financial support they need. In a way the three of them have come so far.
But Josie still had a long way to go. She was currently sitting by the kitchen table thinking about the only person she knew she would ever love. "You know working, coming home, and going straight to sleep, can't be healthy. But what do I know right, you're the doc." Lizzie said as she made her way to the brunette. Josie looked at her and smiled. "I know, but what else can I do Liz?" "Come with Mg and me, we're going to a party we are throwing for the foundation, and it's time for you to meet new people sis." Josie stands up, and says. "I know you love me and you're just trying to help me, but I know deep down." She posed as she turned to make eye contact with Lizzie, and continued to say. "I know that I will never, ever love anyone that isn't Hope Mikaelson, she will always be the person I need and love. I know that she will never love me, but my heart will forever belong to her."
She said the last part as a whisper as she closed her eyes, letting her tears fall. Lizzie looked at her, with a broken heart. 'Hope if only you knew the person you let go.' Lizzie thought. She walked to Josie and gently guides her to the living room, as they sat on the couch, she held Josie so tight letting her cry and eventually she fell asleep.
Three hours later, Mg walked through the front door with their food, but as soon as he saw his fiancé hugging his best friend his smile faded away and he sighed as he said. "She was crying again wasn't she?" He asked with a sad voice. "Yup like every day for the past two years." Lizzie said as she held Josie playing with her hair, making sure she was okay. "I want to hate her Mg. But I know that Josie would never let us." "Yeah, she will just say. 'It's not her fault she can't love me'." They both sighed and let the silence take over.
A couple hours later they were all getting read for the foundation party, and Josie had decided to go. As they arrived at the party, Lizzie and Mg talked to everyone, but when they saw Josie just sitting there, they walked to her with two other women. "Jo this is Penelope, and Jade, they have been helping a lot with the foundation." Mg said, as Lizzie was going to say something they were called over by one of the guests, leaving the three alone.
"Hey I'm Josie." She said extending her hand out so they can shake hands. "Hi I'm Jade and this is my wife Penelope." They all smiled at each other as they began to talk to each other. Without Josie realizing it she was having a good time, and she had made good friends.
"So Jo, are you seeing anyone?" Penelope asked. "No, I actually just got divorced two years ago." Josie said with a sad smile. "Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't know." Penelope said with a sad tone. "Jade and Penelope got up and hugged Josie. "I'm so sorry, I can't imagine what that might feel like. I mean I would be a mess if Pen and I divorced." Jade said with a sad tone.
"I'm okay, I mean as okay as a person can be." Josie said sadly. As time went by Josie was indeed getting better, and she was so grateful for Jade, Penelope, and especially Lizzie and Mg that stood by her through it all.
It had officially been four years and it was Lizzie's and Mg's wedding, and though it was hard for Josie, she knew how much it meant to them to get married at mystic falls. They had just made it and in a way Josie's heart was jumping with joy to see the woman she loves.
"You have no idea how much we all have missed you all." Josette said as she hugged them. "You are marrying one of my little princesses, and I know you will do right by her." Alarc said as he hugged them along with Josette. "Well we better hurry, Caroline and Stefan can't wait to see you." Josette said And with that they all got in the car and headed home.
The car ride home was silent, but a good kind of silent. Lizzie and Mg had fallen asleep , Josette and Alaric were quietly talking about what they wanted to give Mg and Lizzie, and Josie had her headphones on and was listening to music because she gets car sick easily.
When they had finally arrived home, everyone went to sleep after having dinner and talking about the places they had been too. The next day everyone was so excited, Josette, Caroline, and Josie were helping Lizzie get ready when Freya and Rebekah entered and hugged them both. "Oh Lizzie you look so beautiful." Rebekah said as she pulled away from the hug. "She is right, you are one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen." Fraya said as she stepped back. "Well we better head out the ceremony is about to begin." Josette said with a huge smile on her face. As everyone was heading out, Fraya grabbed Josie by the hand and pulled her back a bit and said.
"Hope has really missed you since the day she found out that you left." Josie was about to say something when Fraya cut her off and said. "I know you may not believe me but, please trust me." And with that she walked away, with Josie following behind.
As everyone was seated the ceremony began. "Hello everyone, today we are gathered here to celebrate a beautiful new beginning for Mg, and Lizzie." As the ceremony continued it was time for the vows. "I love you Mg, I love you more than words can ever describe, I know that it took me a while but thank you for waiting for me and being by my side through thick and thin. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." Lizzie said with happy tears. "Well Lizzie I have loved you all my life and I will love you for the rest of my life, forever will never be enough, and I will cherish every moment by your side." Mg said, blinking away his tears. And as the beautiful ceremony ended with a beautiful kiss, the party had begun.
From a distance Josie saw Hope. 'She's as beautiful as ever.' Josie thought with a smile on her face. The burnette began to walk to her, then she saw Hope smile and then out of nowhere Maya came up to Hope kissing her. Josie instantly turned around and walked away as tears began to slide down her cheeks.
While everyone was having a good time Josie had packed all her stuff and left. She was on the bus as she leaned her head against the window. She slowly and gently put her right hand over a talisman Hope had given her years ago as she let her tears run freely. 'How could I have believed that she was missing me, like I've been missing her.' She thought.
