"Stupid cardboard box..."

I struggle trying to open the box for the blow-up mattress. "Why is this thing covered in ten layers of tape???" I whisper to myself. After a minute of trying to pry the box open with my bare hands, I give up, setting it down. Flapjack tilts his head looking at the box and begins to peek at the tape. After a moment the tape rips. I smile slightly and pat the bird's head. "Good job Flap." I let out a sigh and throw the box in my garbage bin. 'I need to finish setting everything up before Hunter gets out of the shower.'

I set the mattress out flat on my bedroom floor. I use a spell to fill it up with air and while doing that I tidy up my room a bit. My room is not messy messy but it's not exactly tidy. Once I think that the mattress is full enough I stop what I am doing and walk over to the mattress. I bend down and push on it to check if it's full. Now knowing that it's good I grab the extra pillows and blankets and set them up on the bed. I let out an uneasy breath. At this moment everything was fine yet I knew the coming days were bound to be stressful with everything going on with the Day of Unity. Flapjack hops up onto the mattress and makes himself at home.

I walk over to my bed and let myself fall onto it. 'If someone told me a few months ago that the Ex-Golden Guard would be staying at my house... I probably would have considered the possibility that that could happen honestly...' I slowly sit up. 'I'm glad it was easy enough to convince my parents to let Hunter stay. When I first asked they were completely against it but after I explained the situation the opposition turned into concern.' I reach over to grab my scroll and log in to my penstagram as I wait for Hunter.

Thought I didn't have to wait long. I hear a knock on my door. I sit up and call out, "Come in!" Hunter opens the door and shuffles into the room awkwardly, closing the door behind him. His hair was messy and still wet. Because this whole situation was quite sudden Hunter was left wearing whatever clothes we had, mainly my clothes. (Which I'm not complaining about.) He stands there staring at me. I look back at him for a moment. "Uh, you can sit down if you want."

He tenses up and slightly shakes his head as if he was breaking out of a trance. He walks over to my bed but stops. "Are we going to sleep now?" He asks.

"We don't have to. If you're tired then sure but if not we can do something else."

"Like what?"

I hum. "Well, before I go to bed I like to watch shows on my crystal ball."

He sits down on the other end of my bed. "Okay, we can do that, if you want."

"Ok, sure!" I stand up from the bed and grab my crystal ball from my desk. "You sure you're not tried though," 'Cause you sure look tried.' I say, keeping the last part to myself. He moves his legs closer to his chest. "I'm fine. I don't think I can fall asleep right now."

"Ok."

I sit back down on my bed and set the crystal ball down in front of me. "What do you wanna watch?"

"I'm not sure. What do you wanna watch?"

"Well, I was just watching (Favourite show)."

"What's that?" Hunter asks.

I gasp. "You've never heard of (Favourite show)!? Ok, we're watching it now. I'll show you the first episode and you can see if you like it."

He laughs a little. "Ok, sure." As I set up the show I notice Hunter move closer to me so he can see the screen better.

I open my eyes. Oh Titan, not again...  Another one of these dreams- wait I don't remember falling asleep.

I take in my surroundings and notice I'm walking through a forest. I frantically look around as if searching for something. I sigh to myself in frustration. A voice I've never heard before calls out to me.

"Have you found him yet?"

I turn to the source of the voice. "If I did I would have told you!"

The familiar-looking woman rolls her eyes. "Calm down, he'll turn up eventually. Hopefully in one piece."  She jokes.

"Evelyn!"

"Sorry, sorry."

I groan turning away from her and continuing to walk down the forest trail. 'Evelyn' catches up with me and we walk along the path. "Do you think he would wander off the path?" I ask, increasingly getting more worried. 'Evelyn' sighs. "I don't know. It's your fault we're even in this mess, how do you lose a human?"

"I don't know! He just walked off!"

She makes a joke but I wasn't really listening. "His brother will kill me when he finds out about this..."

"Then we won't tell him, problem solved!"

I don't answer, continuing to walk. We make it to a large opening in the forest. I gasp as I notice a familiar face.

"Oh, look, see I told you he'd be fine. I don't know why you're so overprotective of him." 'Evelyn' says.

I give her a deadpan look. "Look at him," I say pointing at him.

She looks over at him. "What he's just..." She pauses. "-about to touch poisonous grass- Okay I see your point."

My head whips to the side in a panic. He was in fact about to touch poisonous grass. I rush over to him. "Caleb!"

 ☆~-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~☆

I open my eyes for the second time. My eyes adjust to the darkest of my bedroom. I hear the sound of the show playing softly. 'What the...' I try to sit up but quickly notice something- or someone I should say. I lay back down, I feel a blush cover my face. 'We must have fallen asleep...' I reach over to my crystal ball and turn it off. I look over to Hunter. 'My parents would be so mad if they found out about this.' I think to myself not making any move to stop it.

I look at Hunter as he lays in my bed sound asleep. 'I don't think it'd be right to wake him up to move, he needs this sleep.' I lay there looking at him, I know it's kinda creepy but he just looked so peaceful. My eyes gaze on his facial features and the more I stare at him and more I notice something.

'He looks just like that man from my dreams...'

My head pounds with a spitting headache. I reach over to the headache medicine that was now permanently on my bedside table but freeze. Even in the dark, I could make out the item on my bedside table.  My heart-shaped locket.

A/n Confession of the day

I had a crush on a dude named Hunter in the fourth grade and my "friend" basically told him in a game of truth or dare and I never forgave them for that. Now the dude goes to my High school and he was in my Science class last semester, don't think he remembers it though. So that's fun.
