Tails I Lose- Parker McCollum
No One POV:
"Have you ever been in love before?" She asked, her head resting on top of her knee. He pondered for a minute, watching as the wispy clouds scattered the sky.
He hadn't ever thought about it, to him the whole concept seemed silly.
"Can't say I have been. I mean there were of course my high school adolescent girlfriends I can't say I've ever loved them, you know?" He quipped towards the girl.
She had never looked more beautiful than in that moment. The way her flyaway blonde hairs blew in the wind and the way her green eyes shined. She chuckled, turning to look at the view in front of them.
"About the same with me, but I tell myself it's because I haven't met the right person yet" she thought. His gaze peered down at the kanki shorts he was was wearing, now with holes in them. It was a rare day off to say the least.
He glanced over again at her, catching her piercing jawline as she watched people from below. The scene seemed perfect, the pair rested on the ground at a lookout point.
Their legs dangled off the edge in front of them, the clear blue water crashing into the rocks. "That's what I've told myself too" he mumbled, cheeks reddening. He felt the state of her attention out of the corner of his eye.
He could tell she was smiling but tried to hide away from her gaze. It was the first time they seemed to recuperate feelings for one another, without actually admitting it.
The scene played out for mere minutes more, the two watching as the sun set behind the mountains of hilly California. "Thanks for coming today, I had fun" he smiled, brushing his hands against his shorts, ridding the dirt.
"I was kinda forced" she replied, mirroring his actions. He drew a sharp breath in by her words, afraid he had messed everything up. "Relax I'm only joking" she nudged against his shoulder playfully.
"But just of of curiosity, why did you call me?" She wondered, glancing back towards him. "What? Can't a guy just ask a girl to hang out with him?" He laughed inching closer to her.
She groaned in return, unsatisfied with his reply. "You can bu-" she was cut off abruptly when she felt lips brush onto hers. Her words reduced to none as she allowed her hand to rest on his cheek, basking in the kiss.
His hands gripped lightly on her hips, pulling her closer. But soon enough, the pair separated with red cheeks and shallow breaths. "I really like you Lizzie" he breathed out, voice up an octave off of the high.
"I think I got that" she giggled, leaning in to kiss him once more. "If it's any consolation, I like you too" she whispered between them. "No way! I couldn't have ever guessed tha-" this time she was quick to cut him off.
"Shut up" she smiled at his teasing before closing the space again.
2nd person POV (Ford):
I don't know why it bothered me that much. It's not like we were a couple anyways but judged off the look on your face, you were happy. Don't get me wrong I always loved seeing how your green eyes shined when you smiled.
But it hurts me more that you were happy because of him. My best friend. I keep telling myself to stop, to forget you in the past but I just fucking can't.
You seemed to be just fine though, long forgetting about me.
For the first time in a long time, I felt myself being drawn back into your intoxicating grip.
