Loving You Easy- Zac Brown Band

No One POV:

Flashback:

"You'll never be anything! You're just a nothing, that's all you'll ever be" he shouted, slamming his fist onto the table. The nineteen year old stood there, tears brimming in his eyes as he watched everything fall apart around him.

He took another puff of the cigarette that was wedged between his two fingers. His other hand held a bottle of jack, nearly empty now.

"Dad, please" the teenager mumbled. He had grow slightly more afraid of him now that his protector, his mother, was gone. "Alex! Get that damn boy out of here!" the man called to his older son.

Alexander was nearly twenty one. He had his whole life ahead of him. An intern position in finance waiting for him after he graduated from school, he even had the prefect girlfriend who stood by him for the past few years.

But, part of him gave that all up when he pushed his younger brother towards the front door. "You heard him, get out" he muttered. The boy nodded, finally accepting his fate after all. "You're just like him, you know?" he told him.

Alex slammed the door in his face when he finally walked outside. She had only died a week ago, their mother. She was the foundation for this family that was once happy and loving.

The teenager stumbled through the streets of Tampa, his eyes bloodshot from all of the crying he had done. Ford was the most sensitive out of them. He had the most caring heart and always thought positively.

In this situation, he gave up all hope he had. He was due back at college that Monday morning, classes were starting a new semester and he couldn't miss it. But he had to be here for the funeral, he had to be there for her.

Present:

You know, there are things in the past we all want to stay there. We desperately try to move on from them but no matter how hard you try, it comes back in an instant.

Ford didn't have the greatest past, especially after his mom died. The relationship with his dad and his brother had dwindled into mindless nothing. Like they hadn't ever been a family at all.

Everyone went their separate ways, silently hoping to never see the other again.

"What the fuck do you want?" he spat at the man sat in front of them. He drew in a breath, guilt ridden all over his face. "Listen Ford, I was an asshole-" he was shortly cut off.

"What are you doing here, Alex?" he spat at his brother. His voice was much louder than he anticipated, much less for the quiet pub. "Dad's dead" the older man replied.

Ford threw his head back, chuckling so hard it pressured his chest. He wiped the tears that welt up in his eyes from the laughter. "Ford?" Alex furrowed his eyebrows, listening to the maniacal laughing.

"You flew all the way over here to tell me that? After we haven't talked for eight whole years?" the soccer star caught his breath. Opposite him, the man ran his hands across his face.

"I know this was bad-". "You don't know shit, Alex. Who the hell do you think you are, threatening my girlfriend-to what? Tell me that my alcoholic father who shut me out, is dead?" he grew angrier by the minute.

Ford hadn't been one to rampage but when it came to the people he loved, he would do anything in his power to keep them safe. He didn't know why he agreed to this in the first place, it was a stupid idea looking back.

He grabbed the discarded jacked that hung from the back of his chair. "Thank you, Ronnie" he bid to his favorite bartender as he threw a hundred pounds on the bar. "Ford-listen" Alex tried but his so called brother was long gone.
