From The Start- Laufey

No One POV:

He led her to the middle of the ballroom floor. This being another event that indulged in extravagant pleasantries. His charming flirtatious smile gleamed down at her, once she gazed up into his eyes.

His satin suit meticulously moved as he spun her across the floor. The soft classical music played in the background, hard to deny the romantic ambience.

For once, maybe something good would come out of this stunt. The forced smiles overtime seemed to bore them, especially for the cameras.

It was all a good show, she thought at least. It was as though their feelings for one another were clear but neither would act upon it. Elizabeth seemed to distance herself more, they talked less and less until they absolutely had to.

He couldn't quite understand what she wanted from him. One moment, she was closer diving back into the center of his heart. Then the next she turned a cold shoulder and wanted to be left alone.

There they stood, in the center of this floor. Forced to be seen in the public that night. He wanted to give this another chance. Especially after the kiss they shared before his match days prior.

Ford could already hear Max chiming in his ear as he looked to the actress in front of him. Once the music concluded and the soft bass of a new melody played, he grasped onto her hand once more.

This scene was much different than the charity ball he accompanied Florence to. He could feel his heart hammer in his chest at the thought of everything that went down that night.

When he learned the whole truth.

He pulled her to a much more private room, away from the noise and the drunken celebrities in their designer wear. Elizabeth's brows knit together, the confusion evident on her face.

"I want you to be honest with me" he sighed, looking to her. She nodded, still confused but listened furthermore. "I can't tell what this is-between me and you" the soccer star began.

The guilt resolved on her face, now clearly understanding this action. She fiddled with the fabric of her low-cut dress. The bright heels adorning her feet began to take a toll as they ached and pressured more.

"I want nothing more to give you a second chance between us, but how am I supposed to do that if I don't know if this is real?" he questioned. The actress averted her gaze once more, the subject weighing heavily on her lately.

"Please, just say anything" he was practically begging at this point. She cleared her throat, taking in his words carefully. Nothing fell from her lips, however. Ford scoffed sadly, shaking his head.

"You know what? Never mind, I was dumb to think this could work again" that sent a knife through her weary heart. As he moved to brush past her, she gently grabbed onto his arm, capturing his attention.

His blue eyes clouded by the storms in his eyes, hers filled with uncertainty. "I love you, I do. I'm just scared with all the attention and the pressure to preform in front of the cameras. I don't know if I could give you my full heart" she shakily spoke.

His hands fell to her shoulders, cupping them softly. The brush of his thumbs allowed there to be a soft reminder that he was there with her, calming down her excessive nerves.

"Lizzie, I understand and I'd never push you into a situation where you have to be with me. Just know, you can trust me with your heart always" he smiles with tight lips.

The actress leaned forward, resting her head on his chest as he embraced her into a secure hug. "I know, thank you" she sniffles at his understanding. "Let's get back out there before someone comes looking for us" he says.
