Chapter 18

Neon's P.O.V.:

I don't know why, but just hearing my dad say that, scared me. I had no reason to be afraid of Y/N, but for some reason I was. I don't think Brimstone was very excited about the news either. 

"Brimstone?", Sage asked, he had been silent for awhile.

He looked like he was really thinking about what my dad told us. If he really was that strong, then it could be bad if it got out of hand, I mean, my powers could be devastating when I lose control, but if he is only using a fraction of his power and is already matching my destruction, then God only knows how bad things could get. 

"This amount of power is dangerous, for anyone. He is strong and capable, but everyone gives in to their emotions at some point, and if he does, I don't know if he could be stopped", my father said.  

Brimstone put his hand on his chin, and rubbed his beard. "Do you think he knows that he is being limited?", Brimstone asked. 

"I don't know, its possible", he said. 

"If he doesn't we can't tell him", Brimstone said. I was surprised a little by his decision, why wouldn't we tell him?

"Why not?", I asked. 

He looked at me, not really knowing what to say. "Why would we lie to him?", I asked, getting a little louder. I didn't think it was fair to keep something like this from him. 

"Neon, I believe everyone in this room cares about Y/N, I know I do. He's smart and trustworthy, not to mention hardworking, and headstrong", he said before pausing. 

"But he is dangerous. Not just to the world, but us as well, and himself. If he knows, he may be tempted to use it for himself if he knows he can", Brimstone said. 

I felt upset by what he just said, and I wasn't afraid to tell him that. "How could you even say that?! He has done nothing but try and help people and help us with no thought of himself, and he has put himself in front of bullets for all of us. How could you stand here and tell me that he would do something like that?!", I argued. 

"It doesn't matter how good of a person he is, or how much he has done. A man can change when they have that much power and control. If what your father is saying is true, then he could do anything he wanted and no one would be able to stop him. Anything he wants, he could get, and that is something that has turned the best people into the worst ones", he said. 

 "He trusts us, and you lying to him isn't fair. He deserves to know the truth doesn't he? What will you do if he figures it out, and finds out that we lied to him about it?", I asked. 

"We will worry about that if we have to. But for now, no one knows about this. Not me, not you, not him. Nobody", he said. 

"Understand?", he asked. 

I wanted to argue with him, but I knew that his word was final, and it would be a waste of breath. "Yes sir", I answer reluctantly. 

I walk out of the meeting room, and I was conflicted with my thoughts. One side of me wanted to tell Y/N right now, because he deserved to know, but another side of me didn't, I didn't know what to do. 

I walked until I noticed something. It was Y/N in the training room again like he always was. I watched as he tore the targets apart, and that fear arose in me again. I wish I could say I knew him and trusted him enough, but I didn't. I could say he wouldn't use his powers for his own gain, but I don't truly know. 

It hurt me because I was afraid that he might, and if that happens, well I don't know what I'll do if it does. I made up my mind, and decided to do what Brimstone told me, and I wouldn't tell him. 

A part of my heart broke when I knew that I would be lying to him, I didn't want to lie. I walked away from the training room, and left him to train. 'What if he found out? Will he hate me?' I thought. 

'Why did it hurt so bad? Why was I so reluctant to keep this from him? Why am I feeling so terrible right now?' I thought. 

I couldn't figure it out, so I just decided to clear my head by going for a run. 

Brimstones P.O.V.:

I pinched the bridge of my nose, agent Neon left looking pretty upset with me. I didn't want to lie to the kid just as much as her, but sometimes you needed to lie, even if it was to the people you care about. 

"Are you sure this is the right call?", Sage asked. 

"Its the only call. We don't know what the consequences of telling him would be, and the possibility of him going rouge is a good enough reason to keep this from him", I told her. 

She sighed, that could only mean that she didn't fully agree with me, but she nodded her head and told me she understood. 

It was all I could do, I want to be everything for everyone, but sometimes I can't. I can't risk the lives of thousands just because I told him that he may have more power than anyone here combined. 

"I'm more worried about her. She will eventually listen and do what you said, but it will tear her apart. Her heart is telling her to trust him, while her head is telling her to trust you, and she wont know what to chose", Sage explained. 

I understood, agent Neon has gotten rather close with him, more than anyone. It would obviously hurt her to lie to someone she cares about. No one wants to hurt the people they care about, especially her, but sometimes, you just have to. 

There was no telling what he could do, so it was best to just not tell him. 

I walked to my office and sat in my chair, but I just sat there. I felt awful for what I was doing, and for putting agent Neon in this kind of position. I had to live with my decision though, and it was for his sake and everyone else's. 

"Please Y/N, I hope one day, if you ever find out, you can understand", I said.

Its only been a few days and I can say it without a doubt, AP Calc sucks ass, but at least my teacher is fucking awesome. I still can't believe how many people are voting and reading this, and how quickly we are getting to that 1k reads which is insane. Hopefully I can keep up my schedule and keep updating.
