Y/N P.O.V.:

6 months later...

'That mission sucked ass' I thought. I had just returned from a long and tiring mission. I had dirt and oil and everything in between all over me, and I just looked like shit. But at least I didn't come back with any blood seeping out of me. This had become the usual, for some reason I just either came back with a hole in me somewhere, or I looked like I just came out of a tornado.

I trudged my way through the halls, I just wanted to eat something. I stumbled slowly into the kitchen. I was almost 22 and I already feel like I'm getting too old for this shit. I smelled something... good, and turned to my side to see a plate of Neon's Nanay's adobo, my favorite.

In the past few months I've grown fond of her cooking, Filipino food was really good. I approached the food, and it had a note next to it.

'I knew you would be hungry when you got back, so I saved you some...'

                                                                                                                                     -Neon

I smiled, which I rarely do anymore.

I was glad she saved me some, because I was exhausted, and hungry. I immediately dove into the food and ate it like a wolf that hadn't seen a meal in weeks. Apparently it was her mothers recipe, but I had it when her mom made it once and for some reason, it just tasted better when Neon made it.

While I ate the food just made my body feel warm, it felt nice that someone cared enough to think of me, and left me some food.

I couldn't stop thinking about her, I guess her leaving me food prompted me to do so. She was really kind, but also kind of reserved, she looked like she had an attitude when she was asked to do something more than once.

Over the course of the time I've been here, she seemed to stick out more than anyone else, even when she didn't try. She grabs my attention almost every time without even meaning to, and it was something I didn't quite understand. Why was she the only one who could do that.

"Well, someone looked like they just got out of a bar fight", I hear. I turn to see Brimstone walking into the kitchen. I wasn't surprised that he was up this late, he works a lot.

"How did it go?", he asked.

I just gave him a look that said, 'really?' to which he laughed at. I mean I think the way I looked gave him a pretty good idea on how it went.

"Well at least you aren't pissing off Sage after this one", he said. 'Good point' I thought, Sage gets pissed if I need healing and I would have to wake her up for it.

I continued to chow down on my food and he just watched me.

"You like that stuff huh?", he said. I nodded my head, I like it a lot.

"She was very kind to leave some for me", I said. He smiled at me, he smiled a lot, but a lot of people here did. I didn't really get how they could smile so much after everything we do everyday.

"She made it because she knew it was your favorite, and wanted you to have it when you got back after your mission", he said.

I was flattered. She made this just for me? I felt special for a moment, but then it was ended when Brimstone spoke.

"You're smiling", he said.

I hadn't realized that I was, and stopped doing so. "So what?", I asked. He just chuckled in return.

"Nothing, just good to know that someone makes you feel happy, cause nothing else seems to work", he said. "Since you've gotten here, I don't think I've ever seen you smile unless it was with her. I've always wanted you to feel like your home and happy here, and I'm just glad that she does that for you", he added.

I didn't really know what to say about that, so I didn't say anything, and kept eating.

"Why is it that only she does that?", he asked. I didn't know how to answer that either, because I was just sitting here asking myself the same question.

"I don't know", I said.

"Well kid, you've got time to figure it out. You're young and still have a life ahead of you, so enjoy it", he said.

After he said that, he got up from his chair and walked out. 'What did he mean by that? Time to figure out what?' I thought.

I finished up my food and put it in the dishwasher, before making my way to the bedrooms. On my way there, I passed by her door, because it was next to mine. I stopped walking and looked at her door. For some reason something in my body was making me move towards it. I wanted to thank her for the food she made, and just to see her.

I doubt she was up, and I contemplated whether or not I should knock or not, because it could wake her up, it was really late at night. After standing there like an idiot outside her door for a minute, eventually I knocked on it. I felt like I was about to collapse from my fatigue, but I didn't care.

I could feel my nervousness coming back, and one part of me was begging for her to open it, and another part was praying she wouldn't.

To my luck and dismay, the door opens, and a pair of brown eyes was looking right into mine.

"Hi", I said, awkwardly. She looked at me funny, and at that moment I remembered I still looked like a mess, how embarrassing.

"Hi", she said back, with a smile. I didn't really plan on what to say to her after that, I didn't think she would actually answer the door.

"Thank you for the food", I said, it was all I could think of.

"Oh, no problem, glad you liked it", she said with a smile. I liked it when she smiled, after a shitty day, it just made it better.

"Looks like your mission went really well", she said with sarcasm. I almost laughed, yeah, it went really well.

"Well I'm glad you're back safe", she says.

"Thanks", I said. She just smiled back, "You should get some rest, you don't look so good", she said.

"Yeah", was all I responded with.

"Goodnight", she said before shutting her door. I walked back into my room and fell onto my bed, I didn't feel like taking a shower, I didn't have the energy. I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow.

Just some fluff stuff because I had no real ideas for this one, school is already off to a great start with 4 homework assignments, five quizzes next week and lots of depression, but yeah, thanks for reading.
