Chapter 24

Neon's P.O.V.:

He leaned his face closer to mine, and involuntarily I did the same. 'Was he going to kiss me?' I thought. He got so close that I could feel his warm breath on my skin, which sent shivers down my spine.

Right when our faces were about to touch, an alarm went off in his pocket, which cause both of us to retract our heads. He let go of me, and grabbed his alarm, which was an emergency alarm from Brimstone. 

Y/N P.O.V.:

I pulled away, and grabbed my alarm, Brimstone wanted us back immediately, because something bad was going on. We ran back to our cars and drove as fast as we could back to HQ. During my drive, I thought about what we were about to do before we were interrupted. 

What was I doing? Why would I have done that? More importantly though, why was she going to do the same? What would've happened if we hadn't been interrupted?

I didn't have time to think about it right now, because in all the time I've been here, Brimstone has never had to use the emergency signal for anything. 

We hauled ass back to HQ, and ran to the meeting room, when we got there, we were surprised to see everyone in there. Every agent in the protocol, all 22 of us. This could be anything but good. 

I just stayed quiet and waited for an explanation. Neon stood beside me, as well as Yoru and Phoenix. 

"You all are probably wondering why I called you here, and I wish I didn't have to tell you", Brimstone said, looking grim.

"A few hours ago an attack was launched in The Philippines by the Omega world", he said. 

I was shocked, I couldn't believe it. I looked at Neon beside me, and she looked ten times more shocked than me. 

"A lab was attacked in Manila, and to our knowledge, it has been taken over, we don't know how many people attacked, but what we do know is that whoever it was is extremely powerful", he said. 

"We are going to need a lot of people to come on this mission and the Filipino army has volunteered to help, however, I cant ask any of you to do this, because it will be extremely dangerous, and some bad stuff can go down. Sage will be coming with us, but she won't engage. Her job will be to bring us back if we don't make it", Brimstone said.

"That being said, I need volunteers to go", he finished, looking at all of us in the room. 

Neon instantly took him up on his offer, I didn't want her to go alone, so I did too. Eventually, we had Neon, Cypher, Sova, Brimstone, and I all going. Everyone else would be on standby.

"We will infiltrate the lab, with an escort from the Filipino Army, then everything else is unknown, so keep your eyes open, and be ready for anything. We don't know what we're up against, and I can't guarantee anyone that we will win, but I believe in this team, this protocol with my life, and I believe we will emerge victorious at the end of this", he said, trying to motivate us. 

Based on what he was saying, he was telling us that we were going to die on this mission, but that's okay. 

We boarded the ship within a few minutes after the meeting ended, as we took the time to get completely ready. I had my gun, which I had modified heavily, it was now a double barrel revolver, which I thought was cool, and just confirms my kill. 

I had my sword, and I had everything I needed. I sat in silence, like everyone else. I think I was quiet because I knew I was charging right into death, and didn't really have anything to say, because Sage would just bring me back. 

I looked over at Neon, and I could tell she was horrified. It was the lab her father worked at, and she was probably worried sick about her parents, especially her father. 

After a minute of thinking of ways to comfort her, I just put my hand on top of hers, which caused her to look at me. 

"I won't let anything happen to them", I told her, "I promise". 

I knew what it was like to lose your parents, and I didn't want that for her. I didn't want her to be anything like me, because I hate myself for the way I am, and I refused to let her be like that. 

She nodded her head at me, and in a stunning move, she interlaced her fingers with mine, so we were fully holding hands. If it made her comfortable than I didn't care, I would gladly hold her hand if that was what she wanted. 

We reached the lab within an hour, because we took a faster, more high tech carrier ship to get there. In emergencies, the protocol has faster ships in order to get to places quicker. 

We geared up, and met up with the Filipino army, who had already surrounded the lab. I didn't understand that, because if the omega world had managed to break in and either take hostage or kill everyone inside then there was no chance that they would be able to stop them. 

"We are going to split up into groups, because we can cover more ground this way. We don't know where they are and we don't know what they're doing", Brimstone said. 

Made sense, but I worried about Neon at the moment. She was definitely afraid, and emotionally unstable at the moment, and when that happens, she could do some bad things if she wasn't careful. 

We split up into our groups, and prepared to infiltrate the lab at different entrances. Before I walked to go to my selected area, Neon pulled my arm. She looked worried for me, "Listen um... don't die, okay?", she said. 

I nodded at her, and walked away. If I choose to stay a second longer, than I would never have left.

When we got to our positions with the army with us, Brimstone called us all in. 

"Group 1 is ready. Group 2?", "Ready", "Group 3?", "Ready", "Group 4?", "Ready", "Group 5?". 

I thought for a second, and looked around at the men that had been entrusted to me to lead, and I thought about it. 

"Ready", I said, coldly. 

"Lets give 'em hell", he said.

With that, I infiltrated the building, and everyone else followed behind me.

Another shitty chapter, yeah! Well I have half an hour of calc homework, and some Chemistry and Lit homework that I have to do. Probably about two hours worth of work, but I thought I should give y'all a chapter cause I haven't updated in a little while, schools rough.
