Caitlin's POV:

Shoot. Why did I just do that.

The truth was that I had liked Rory all of last summer. I was to scared to tell her how I felt because she had a huge crush on Tristian. I didn't even know if she liked girls, plus I didn't want to make her feel uncomftorable, especially in her own home. So I decided when I came to Iowa to just let go of her, but it was harder then I thought.

I thought that this might be a fresh start, but I just ruined everything, per usual.

"Oh, it must be someone else named Caitlin, sorry, sometimes I have really bad memory."

I could see her face fill with sadness. She probably felt so awful right now. I was on of the only people that she knew at Iowa, and the only girl on the basketball team, and she probably feels so bad.

"So, your brother is Jaime from Miami heat, right?" Monika asks Rory

"Um yeah he is!"

"How has that been?"

"I mean, he has obviously gotten a tremendous amount of love which is really awesome. But it's nice that I still have someone in the United States to live with me."

"Oh, nice! Your other brothers don't live in the United States?"

"No. All of them live in Paris, now." Her face says it all. She looked very upset.

I felt so bad for Rory. I knew how close her and Sodapop had been, so I can only imagine what she was going through, having him move so far away.

Rorys POV:

"Girls time for practice!" Coach Bluder yells at us

As the girls walk away, I can't help but overhear their conversation.

"How can you forget that you meet someone and think that they are THE Caitlin Clark? Is she that crazy." Monika says, trying to be quieter.

"I don't know." Caitlin says, not adding that much else.

Rorys POV:

💬: Molly

Today             11:46pm

Molly

Hey Rory! I am outside right now.

Rory

Hey! We just finished up, but I will be heading out soon.

Molly

No worries. Take your time.

Rory

Thanks!

About 5 minutes after the conversation, I get to Mollys car.

"Hey! How was it?"

"Um... pretty bad."

"What!? What was bad about it?

"Well. Caitlin told me that she didn't know anybody named Rory. And that she had never been to Boston before. And then Monika was like is she crazy how could she forget who Caitlin."

"Oh my gosh! That is awful, I am so sorry."

"I just don't know what I did wrong, or why people don't like me."

"Rory, don't you dare put yourself down for this. If Caitlin is going to be like that, let her be like that. Clearly she has issues, not you."

I just sat there in silence.
