The next morning, Douxie and Makayla were in the kitchen, making some breakfast before they had to go to school. Well, Makayla was making breakfast. Douxie was just pacing back and forth with his hand on his chin, thinking about something.
"There has to be some sort of explanation for this weird feeling I'm having." Douxie whispered to himself. "But what? I'm supposed to have the answer. Why can't I think straight?"
"I think you're probably just hungry, Doux." Makayla said with a smile. "But don't worry. Top Chef Nora is here to fulfill your stomach's needs!"
Douxie chuckled at his sister'a playfulness. "You're right. I could eat." He said.
At that moment, Jake came down the stairs. "Can I talk to you, Sis?" He said, walking into the kitchen. "It's urgent."
"Hey, we were having a moment here." Douxie said, sounding annoyed by Jake's presence.
"Good Morning, Hisir-Doofus." Jake said, not looking at Douxie.
"Why must you insist on calling me that every time you see me?" Douxie asked. "It's not funny."
"Anyway, I just need to talk to Makayla." Jake said, now turning to look at Douxie and giving him a dark glare. "Alone, if you please."
Douxie scoffed as he walked out of the kitchen. "I'd like some scrambled eggs and toast." He said.
Makayla gave a thumbs up as she began to gather all the things needed for Douxie's breakfast order.
"What a sore loser." Jake said. "You're my sister too. I should be able to talk to you when I need it."
"It's okay, Jake." Makayla said with a reassuring smile. "I'm here for you."
"Does he carry those sour grapes with him everywhere he goes?" Jake asked.
"Bro." Makayla said.
"Alright, sorry. . . I'm just feeling a little on edge this morning." Jake said. "I had another weird dream last night."
"Another one?" Makayla asked. "What was it about this time?"
Douxie suddenly perked up from the other room when he heard that Jake had a weird dream. "Huh. . . normally, I wouldn't eavesdrop on others, but I can make an exception when it comes to my sister." He said as he got up and snuck to the kitchen, only listening from the other side of a wall.
"Well, I'm not sure what it means, but I'll start from the beginning." Jake said. "It basically continued from my last one with the strange woman wanting to save the weird vampire dude. And then she got into an argument with her sister."
"An argument?" Makayla asked.
Hearing this, immediately intrigued Douxie. He continued to listen closely.
"They were in a heated argument about morals." Jake said. "The girl, Jessica, wanted to save the vampire guy. But Jasmine, her sister, didn't think it was a good idea. It was all so weird."
"And it's nothing more than that?" Makayla asked, as she whisked eggs in a bowl. "That's kind of lame."
"It was, but I feel like it was important somehow." Jake said.
"How could it be important?" Makayla asked. "It's just a random dream you had, right?"
"I thought so, too." Jake said. "But if that was the case, why do I keep having these weird dreams of an event that seemed to have happened in the past? I just don't get it."
As he was listening, Douxie began to get more intrigued by this story. But the more he thought about what it could mean, the more suspicious he grew. He leaned a bit closer to get a better listen in.
"Maybe it's your mind trying to get you to remember something." Makayla said.
"Remember what?" Jake asked. "I don't recall ever seeing these people before. As far as I know, they're all random people."
"Maybe it's not as random as you think." Makayla said.
"Are you some sort of dream expert or something?" Jake asked.
"No, but I know someone who is." Makayla said. "They've helped me before."
"Huh. . . that's interesting." Jake said. "I'll have to go and visit them at some point."
*CRASH!*
Suddenly, a loud sound was heard, startling both Jake and Makayla. They both looked over to see Douxie. And it appeared he had knocked something over, making a huge mess.
"Uh. . . oops." Douxie said with a nervous smile.
"We're you eavesdropping on us?" Jake asked angrily.
"I had to." Douxie said. "You really thought I wouldn't listen on when something interesting is mentioned?"
"I was talking about a dream I had!" Jake said. "There's nothing interesting about that."
"I beg to differ." Douxie said. "Having dreams of a past event? That's definitely something to look into. Not for you, but for me."
"Oh, piss off!" Jake said angrily. "You would just ruin everything!"
"Guys, stop! All of this bickering isn't good for you." Makayla said, stepping in between her two brothers. "Can't we all just get along for *one* measly second?!"
"But he started it!" Jake said, pointing at Douxie.
"Oh, yeah right!" Douxie said angrily. "Maybe don't have such intriguing details in your dreams then!"
"God dammit!" Makayla yelled angrily. "What did I just say?"
She then took her spatula and whacked both of them on the head, before shoving them out of the kitchen. "I'll call you guys in here when breakfast is done." She said. "Until then, you boys behave!"
With that, Makayla got back to breakfast and Douxie and Jake just looked at each other in shock by what just went down.
"Uh, what just happened?" Jake asked. "She was like an angry grandma just now."
"Maybe we should consider saving our bickering for later when she's not around?" Douxie asked.
"I wish I didn't have to." Jake said.
With that said, both of them went back into the living room to wait for breakfast to be done.
In the kitchen, Makayla just shook her head in disappointment. "Why must *I* be the one to have to act more mature than my older brothers?" She asked herself. "I guess that's what happens when you have a complicated family history, I suppose."
Back in the living room, Jake and Douxie were sitting on the couch, not even looking at each other.
"You're still suspicious." Douxie said. "I'll be keeping an eye on you from now on."
"Bloody hell. . ." Jake said, under his breath.
