After dealing with Ryan and seeing how she wanted to change for the better, Jake got up and headed out of the room to look for everyone else and talk to them. But he knew who he wanted to see and talk to next.
He immediately went into the room where Makayla was sitting next to Douxie. Makayla looked back and smile when she saw Jake standing there.
"Bro, you're awake!" Makayla said with a smile on her face. "I'm glad."
"How's Douxie doing?" Jake asked.
"Well, he's fine." Makayla said. "He didn't get seriously hurt, like Ryan or April did. He'll recover quickly."
"Like hell I didn't get hurt!" Douxie snapped. "That alien controlling April pierced my shoulder and then knocked me out with my own magic!"
"Well, you're not dead." Jake scoffed.
"Why do you even care?" Douxie asked. "I'm the last person you should be worried about."
"Well. . . I'm just making my rounds." Jake said. "Plus, you helped out a lot during that fight. The least I can do is make sure you're not seriously hurt."
"Well, thanks." Douxie said. "But I'm fine, so you can go now."
Makayla then looked at both of of her brothers and put on a nervous smile.
"Uh. . . should I leave you two alone for a minute?" Makayla asked.
Jake and Douxie didn't say anything to that.
Makayla then let out a nervous chuckle. "Right. . . I'll let you two talk for a bit." She said, before standing up and leaving the room.
"Great. . ." Douxie said.
Jake looked at where Makayla went went out and then looked back at Douxie.
"So. . . what did you want to discuss?" Douxie asked.
"No. . . I want to hear from you first." Jake said. "What was going on with you before?"
"What are you talking about?" Douxie asked.
"I mean back when you found the Grinmoire." Jake said. "I assume your suspicions about me started after you found that, correct?"
"I assume you've read it as well then?" Douxie asked
"I have." Jake said. "And I'll admit. . . the contents of it were. . . shocking, the say the least."
"I still can't believe it myself." Douxie said. "I mean. . . vampires exist after all."
"I didn't think it would shock you that much." Jake said. "Seeing as how you're a literal wizard."
"Hey, there's still a lot that can surprise me." Douxie scoffed.
"But I just have to say one thing about that." Jake said. "Whatever impression that book gave you-"
"I know. . . I understand now." Douxie said. "You're not a bad person. If anything, you're actually a pretty decent guy."
"Well, that's nice to know now." Jake said.
"And what we went through the other day. . ." Douxie said. "I'm afraid I have to apologize for that."
"What, you mean our argument at breakfast that Makayla had to break us up from?" Jake asked. "Yeah. . . that was a crap-fest."
"And. . . I'm sorry for that." Douxie said. "It was all uncalled for. I shouldn't have acted that way."
"It was unlike you to act like that." Jake said, honestly.
"I know, I'm the worst." Douxie said.
"Hey, don't put words in my mouth." Jake said. "I'd never say that, let alone think it."
