"What do you mean?" Steven asks.
"I'm gonna keep us safe." I pull him into the dining room and sit him down at the table.
"I'm gonna walk right into the Poseidonian Base and make them sign a contract. They can do what they want with me, but they can't harm you."
"Topaz!"
"I'll go with her." Theo volunteers.
"You will?" I ask.
"Yes, I will." Theo comes to stand beside my chair.
"Topaz, you're still injured. Do I need to remind you of the nine-inch gash on your leg? And your concussion? You are in no shape to travel!" Steven protests.
I shoot up and state, "Look! I can move!" A start skipping around the room. Then jogging. Then twirling. Then I sit back down.
"Topaz. I can't let you go purposely end your life!"
"What about your life? And Jaclyn's? And Cat's? And Peter's? And the girls? And Finn and Ray's? One life in exchange for seven."
"Topaz, no!"
"Steven, I really think it's in the best interest of the family." Theo states.
"I'm gonna leave the decision up to you. You do what you think is right." Steven says in a take-it-or-leave-it voice.
"I'm gonna do it." I say confidently.
"Then you have my blessing." Steven states. "When do you want to go?"
"Tomorrow. We'll leave tomorrow."
Steven gets up and gives me a hug. "Please be careful."
