EMERALD'S POV::

Isaac and I were sat in his bedroom trying to do this project and I'm not going to lie, it was probably the most boring thing I've ever done. I've never actually finished a project for school before. I actually don't think I've ever done homework before so this was really different and I'm already certain that I'll never do it again.

"Oh my God, do we have to do this for much longer?" I groaned, holding my head in my hands.

"Come on, we're halfway done. We need to talk about the sacrifices they made for each other." Isaac encouraged.

"Well, the only Romeo and Juliet I'm familiar with is the movie one and the only reason I watched it is because Leonardo DiCaprio was in it." I complained.

"Look it's not that hard, they killed themselves for each other right?" Isaac smiled at me.

"Yeah, but Romeo woke up so then he killed himself again like why?" I frowned.

"Exactly!" Isaac yelled, "That's what we have to talk about. It's really easy okay?"

"Okay, well first of all, don't yell like that, I jumped like 3 feet in the air then." I placed a hand over my chest, feeling my racing heart.

"Right sorry. Just talk about your opinion on what they did and explain why they did it and that's good enough." Isaac stood up from his chair.

I sat in the chair and quickly began typing the first thing that came into my mind, not really bothering to check what I was putting. I knew Isaac would go through and fix it anyway before we handed it in next week.

I stopped typing suddenly and turned around in the swivel chair, "Can you sing for me?"

"I'd rather not." Isaac scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Come on, do you have a piano here? You're coming to see my band so you have to let me hear you sing something." I pleaded.

"Alright fine. The music room's downstairs." He said, motioning for me to follow him as he walked out of the room.

I trailed after him like a lost puppy, looking around as we made our way down the stairs and into another room. The room had white walls and a piano in the middle of the room. There was a guitar in there too along with some speakers and a table with loads of sheets of paper on it.

Isaac picked up one of the pieces of paper and I realised it was some sheet music. He sat down at the piano and gestured for me to sit next to him.

We both only just fit on the small piano stool so our shoulders were pushed together and I looked over to see him blushing slightly. Honestly, I could show this guy a naked Barbie doll and he'd probably go bright red.

He began pressing the piano keys and opened his mouth to sing.

"Turn down the lights, turn down the bed." He began singing.

Isaac's voice was so raw and raspy; it was amazing to put it simply. As continued singing I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and goose bumps form on my arms and legs.

I closed my head and leaned it to the side, resting it on Isaac's shoulder. I felt him tense up slightly before relaxing again, the two of us just getting lost in the music.

I felt tears begin to form in my eyes and I was determined to keep them back. No one had ever seen me cry before, that was something I wanted no one to see. It would make people think I was weak but the way Isaac had so much emotion in his voice when he sang was doing something to mess with my emotions.

"You can't make your heart feel something that it won't." At that I felt a solitary tear run down the side of my face.

I didn't bother to move to wipe it away. I didn't want to distract him and make him stop. His voice was sending shivers down my spine and it was absolutely beautiful.

I honestly wanted to tell him to keep going when he came to the end of the song, holding onto the last note before pulling his hands away from the piano and into his lap. I lifted my head off of his shoulder and tried to quickly wipe my tears before he noticed but failed.

"Are you crying?" He asked.

"Nope." I lied but it was clear in my voice that I was crying.

"Damn, I didn't know I was that bad." He joked, wrapping his arms around my shoulders.

I laughed slightly before replying, "Isaac, honestly, your voice is f*cking beautiful."

"It's not that great." He mumbled.

"Don't lie to yourself, it's not healthy." I whispered as he pressed a kiss to the top of my head.
