The sun was blazing down on you, your hand providing shade for your eyes as you looked around the area.
Despite the delay, you all made it to where the third phase would be held. You were slightly baffled at the fact it was a large random tower in the middle of no where.
The place was deserted but appeared less deserted with all forty-two applicants, excluding you and Akaki.
Speaking of Akaki, she was leaning on Leorio for dear life, still half asleep, no matter how hard Leorio tried to get her off.
You didn't want to have to carry Akaki again, the height difference was a serious problem.
A speech was given out by Bean, a short explanation of the objective which was to reach the bottom of the tower alive, a time limit of 72 hours and Bean ended it by wishing everyone good luck.
You watched as Gon and Killua leaned over the edge, assessing the height of the tower.
You kept your distance, caught up in your thoughts of how to get down the tower.
You couldn't climb down, that much was obvious. If this was a challenge of climbing, the Hunter Association would've had the challenge be placed on a mountain, no?
Everyone here had already proved themselves physically, especially during the first phase.
Or maybe you were just not thinking outside the box. How would physically climbing down the side of the tower be a challenge?
You were interrupted by loud screaming, a large creature flying from the side of the tower with the legs of a applicant hanging from it's mouth with the screams slowly drowning out as the creature swallowed what was left before disappearing down the side of the tower.
Akaki, who was still hanging on Leorio, jumped with a fright. An expression of pure horror hung on her face as her head snapped around wildly.
"What-Whe-Huh?" Akaki mumbled.
Kurapika put his hand on Akaki's shoulder, "Are you alright?"
Akaki nodded, running a hand down her face. "What was that screaming just now?"
You walked up to the edge, watching as a flock of the creatures dissappeared into the mist of clouds covering the outside of the tower.
"A stupid guy decided it was smart to climb down the tower and got eaten by..." Killua explained, giving you a pointed look to explain whatever the hell that creature was.
You shrugged, "We weren't disclosed our current location, so I'm unsure what species it falls under. It's possible it isn't even documented yet."
Killua sighed, looking at Gon who was curious about how they would then get down the tower.
You tried to keep your expression neutral, trying your best not to look at Killua.
This morning when you had woken up from a annocement from Bean apologizing for the delay, it had been rather awkward between you and Killua.
You weren't even sure if he slept at all, as he had been awake when you awoke.
But then again you didn't ask, as soon as you awoke, you had hurried to get out of there. At least you were able to get some breakfast before the airship landed.
But the point was, you hadn't talked to Killua yet since then. Well was what just happened count as talking to him ?
You sighed, your eyes catching onto a familiar hat.
You watched as Ponzu crouched, running her hand over the floor of the tower.
