Chaewon clocks out at exactly 5:00, not a minute earlier and not a minute later.

Because that's just how Chaewon does things.

She doesn't bend the rules to her favor, she honors them.

She makes a plan and sees it through and she never, never dilly-dallies.

As Chaewon triple checks the time to ensure that she's leaving work at precisely the right moment, the crucial reminder that she had set earlier this morning-the one that says "break up with Yunjin"-pops up on her phone. Chaewon clears the notification and with her head held high, she marches to her car, gets inside, checks her mirrors, rechecks her mirrors, and stares at her ever-anxious reflection.

"You're doing this, Chaewon. No more excuses. You're going to drive to the park, meet up with Yunjin, make it crystal clear that you guys are not gonna be a thing, and this will all be over. You are going to break up with her."

Except Chaewon doesn't.

You see, when planning this master plan, Chaewon thought of almost everything.

She figured if her trusty sedan were to somehow break down en route to the park, she'd finally make use of her premium car insurance and arrive at her destination fashionably late via rental car.

Or if Yunjin were to take the bad news... well, badly, Chaewon would offer her a year's worth of free financial consultation to sort of cushion the blow.

Or if Yunjin were to take the bad news really, really badly, and if Yunjin turned out to be the type of stalker who collects their victim's hair follicles, well then Chaewon would contact her friend, Officer Hyunjin: Blockberry's finest and Officer Hyunjin would most definitely get this all squared away.

But the one variable Chaewon failed to consider here was not the ease of commute or the quality of Yunjin's reaction.

It was the location of the date: the park.

"Hey, Yunjin! Who's... uh... who's this little guy?" Chaewon reaches over to pet the toy poodle in Yunjin's arms.

Yunjin never mentioned this was a dog park.

The pup responds by nibbling at Chaewon's finger with his dull teeth.

(Remember that part about the Grinch being so touched by the hospitality and community of the Whos in Whoville that a physiologic response is triggered and his heart grows three sizes? Well, something similar to that happens with Chaewon, Shiro, and her ovaries.)

"This... is Shiro. Surprise!"

She also never mentioned that Shiro, all seven fluffy pounds of him, is the cutest puppy there is or was or ever will be.

Now Chaewon might be a tad uptight, but she's not made of stone.

What kind of heartless brute would she be if she were to squash a budding relationship in the presence of such a good boy, who's a good boy-Shiro is!

Yeah...

Chaewon's not exactly proud of what happened next.
